My ten year old marriage has been difficult from the start. We are both in our 50's and both have grown up children from 1st marriages. Non of whom live with us.
I just dont trust my DH one bit, he is so secretive, he tells me nothing and there is no communication between us.
Basically i clean, make his dinner, he comes in watches tv for the rest of the night. I go out to a class and then return to my bed. He comes in later but little is said.
There is no emotional or physical intimacy. This started 10 years ago and i tried so hard to comunicate with him but he just does not want to. Basically if i say anything at all confrontational he will just walk off in a huff. He did this twice when we were in a foreign country and left me to get myself back on my own. This weekend we went looking for a new carpet, the only task he had to do was to measure the room. We got to the shop and while looking at a carpet he said that he had only done a rough estimate. All i said was "well that is not very helpful" and he stormed out the shop to sit in the car. This is the reaction if i question anything he does. He also has a temper and smashed up my door or he drives erratically if i say anthing that upsets him in the car.
If for example i ask him if we could have dinner without being glued to the tv so that we could talk, he will then just go in a huff and not talk so it is pointless.
He gets credit cards without telling me, had a bump in his car and didnt tell me, he has locked boxes in the loft hidden which i assume contain porn.
In the past i have found things out but now i dont even look. It is pointless
I am 54, i work full time and have invested a lot of money into this house. Part of me just thinks that i should just accept what i have. I certainly dont want another man so dont see much point in ending this relationship. I dont feel like i love him, i just do my own thing and we are like flat mates.
I am lonely though but i feel too old to start again. Sometimes the grass is not always greener.
I also have a lot of problems with my oldest son and i suffer from depression.

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

I'm not condoning his behavior, at all, but if you're confrontational, or sound pissy when you do talk to him, that doesn't help. If he feels like he does nothing right in your eyes, maybe he thinks why bother.
But like I said, I'm not condoning his behavior and see why you can't trust him.
Would you consider therapy, just even for yourself,to get some clarity on your feelings, and maybe insight into how to move forward, whether with him or without him.
Please leave him.
Leaving someome when unhappy isn't about finding someone new. It's about peace of mind, like Aronia said.
Leaving you stranded anywhere, let alone in an unfamiliar counry is a rotten thing to do. I don't know why he's like this. Frankly, I don't think it matters. We're not obligated to be treated poorly because someome had a rotten childhood or past trauma. We can draw a line in the sand and say enough.
With that said, none of us knows him or why he's so miserable and only you can decide what you're willing to take. It's just in doing that, in taking it, it breeds so much resentment. That's what makes it unsustainable, the relentless feeling of resentment, which turns into anger. None of that makes for a happy existence.
However if you don't want to invest in your relationship I would part ways... One more day in this type of resentment and misery would be one more day too long for me
I am now on my own and I am at peace... There is a lot to be said for peace of mind
There's help for you to communicate much better though if you're both willing to do some work... It probably wouldn't take a long time either to learn better communication skills.... Big hug....xo
