Instead, I would offer up the idea, that you come visit her next weekend. That way she's less likely to feel you're blowing her off, that you indeed want to see her, and making the effort to drive out to her (versus her driving to see you). Good luck!!!
There were a couple holidays me and the kids passed on visiting her, because one of us were recently sick... I ran the idea by mom first, and she agreed not a good idea to not visit at that time, and did what we could to make up for the missed celebration...
However I think many who have not dealt with health issues, don't understand how, getting sick can knock one off their butt for a long time. It's not that they aren't nice/ good people (those who don't understand), it's just that they've not lived through it...dealt with the consequences.
Hope this helps, I don't think there is a wrong choice here (eighing the pros and cons, trying to make an informed decision), Best wishes whatever you do...
I feel as people we should want the best for the people we love. The very best!!
In your case, it's difficult for me to understand the thought process your girlfriend seems to have. If she would get angry at you for being concerned about your health, when you just spent 4 months of agony, it doesn't seem like she wants the very best for you. Seems like she wants the very best for herself. know what I mean?
I feel you should keep your boundaries firmly in place and tell her. " I have thought about it and in this case I am going to do what my instincts are telling me to do and postpone our date. I know you'll understand, because you remember how miserable I have been these last few months, I wish I didn't have this health issue, but I would be just as considerate of you if you were the one with CFS.
If she gets angry that is her choice. It would be very selfish of her to get angry with you. In my opinion.
great suggestion ShastaSue...I also agree with the boundary setting, however caution, if you find yourself always having to set boundaries (in a relationship)....that person isn't for you...
