A year ago I got with this guy. I thought he was really nice, attractive, and we are both artists so, we had really deep conversations about things that regular people don't usually think or talk about.
It's been a year with this new guy and I've come to realize that he is a very selfish alcoholic. He grew up drinking and doing drugs from a young age, so he can't really handle anything emotional without freaking out or going silent. He can't communicate. He has a bad relationship with his mom and his past romantic relationships with women have been very unhealthy.
The problem now is that I'm stuck. We live together, we share a room in a house of roommates and I don't have a car, so I use his to get to work and school. He makes me cry I lot. I'm always lonely. He makes me feel worthless. I can't be myself without him overreacting or mocking me. When I talk to him about these problems he either gets really mad or just goes silent and acts like I don't exist.
I guess what I'm getting to is, what should I do? I rely on someone for transportation and to split rent with me. I don't make enough money to live on my own or buy a car.
Also, I'm really lonely and insecure because of this guy and I just need someone to tell me everything is okay. I really don't know how to make friends with people. I just want a deep connection with someone again but it's so hard to come by.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Gentle support while you find what works for you, TMB. It's a tough spot.
Get out of your current situation. Get a deep connection with yourself first. Find a roommate, take the bus.
Do you have friends outside the relationship? Family?
I agree that Alanon is an awesome group for family and friends of Alcoholics …. There are meetings all over and they're free.....
This could really help you with RL support
It's a disease..... it's a family disease and unless he wants to reach out for help for himself this won't change
You being codependent and enabling won't help him at all and is taking you down
As rmb wrote you can change your situation..... Find a new roommate …. and treat yourself gently
You deserve to be treated with respect and with kindness..... Start by treating yourself kindly sweetie.....
Baby steps are steps in the right direction.... You can do this and you can heal
I grew up with alcoholism and I know how damaging it can be...… Another hug.....xo
