I have fallen in love with a man who is still in love with his ex- girlfriend of 5 years. He has been open with me about it and says he also has feelings for me but is working on "building a friendship with his ex" and "cannot conceive of entering another relationship now with anyone." However, he states he wants to still spend time with me and be careful, slow, and cautious. I myself am getting a divorce (after almost 17 years marriage), however my husband was mostly absent from me and my daughter's life for the last years. I am moving forward and adore this man (I have known him since I was 5 years old), but clearly he is stuck in the past. His girlfriend has a new boyfriend and he says there is no chance of them getting back together. Can they even be friends when he is pining for her and she is done? What should I do? Any suggestions much appreciated!

What are five scents/smells that instantly put you in a good mood?

Too much drama involved.
I would also suggest that you give yourself time to heal after your divorce is finalized.
Do not get involved with anyone at the moment as well as after your divorce is finalized.
Focus on yourself as well as on your daughter.
Spend time with your friends and family.
I also think he is selfish for wanting to keep you on the back burner while he works himself out.
I also think it is unwise for him to try and be friends with her. He needs to cut all ties and move on.
Walk away and save yourself some pain!
Don't let him drag you along for the ride; not fair.
You want him, he wants her, shes with another man.. none of you can have each other.
Who wants you??
Take care of yourself and your daughter. She is absolutely going to need your attention for a while.
I think you are fully aware of the situation and have what you need to make a decision, fully knowing what the consequences are.
