How do you deal with friends in a relationship? I don't really have friends anymore, not close friends that I see or talk to often anyway.
My fiance has made some new friends since moving here. I'm glad of that. However he still talks to his old friends, which mostly aren't good people.
One friend in particular is just a user. A few weeks ago I thought they had a falling out. I have been to this friends house twice and refuse to go back. He is free to go wherever and see whoever on his days off when I'm at work. I'm trying to let him have some independence and make his own mistakes, but when that causes us to have less money because he wastes gas on his friends...I start wondering if he will ever learn from his mistakes or realize this friend is a devious underhanded user.
Should I just keep my mouth shut and wait for him to realize this guy isn't a true friend? It's really hard when I can see from my perspective that this punk doesn't care about my fiance at all. He really showed his colors yesterday.
Many couples I know that I deem as successful relationships spend a lot of quality time together and tell me they have mutual friends, not separate friends. As in they like each other's friends and know their friends.
But my fiance and I don't have many friends. I don't like most of his and he doesn't want to hang out with mine. Could this be detrimental to our relationship or should we just try to make new friends since most of the old ones we are outgrowing anyway?

Look at what my best friend did with my picture!

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
The many friends I have are also married with kids the same or similar age.
That way, we can all relate.
Anyway, there’s only one person you can change and that’s yourself.
If you’re not happy with the situation you’re in, it won’t get better after you get married.
Have a truthful and direct chat with your fiancé. Tell him what you want. Give him a chance but also be fair.
I think for a lot of us it wasn’t this conscious decision that now we are only going to have couples as friends. I think it just evolved over time that way as you grow closer as a couple and realize your priorities change.
All of our other friends are mostly couples.
My fiance was too nice to say no, he said he didn't wanna be a dick, and the friend was whining about how he didn't have any friends to help him. All he ever does is whine like that, trying to get ppl to feel sorry for him, complaining about his baby and how he has no life now. No wonder he has no friends!
So then they get to his new house and he starts bragging about how he has 4 new vehicles. I ask my fiance why he couldn't load up his 4 vehicles and move all his shit over to his house instead of wasting our gas and wear and tear on our car? My fiance didn't get home until 8 pm, was exhausted, beat down, and had to put ice on his back because it was so swollen and we had to go to the doc yesterday to get him some muscle relaxers.
I really wanna take this devious little cracker over my knee and take my shoe off and beat his ass with it!
I realize that some people are just fair weather friends and only hang out when things are good and my fiance wants to be there if his friends need him. But still this is too far.
I don't need this friend in my fiance's ear being negative all the time. He clearly doesn't like me or want us to be together. I have been to his house twice and both times he was a shovanist asshole to me, either putting me in a room by myself or trying to pick a fight, making shitty underhanded comments. He even told me I couldn't get married because I'm poor. He made me cry and I refuse to go back to his house. Idk if my fiance doesn't believe me about what his friend said or if his friend has told him Bros before hoes or some other nonsense.
I thought they had a falling out awhile ago. When we got back from vacation last month my fiance was excited to tell all his friends we got engaged so he went down to this friends house. He didn't stay long and acted like something was wrong for a few days afterward. I figured his friend was badmouthing me again since badmouthing women is his favorite pastime. Idk tho. I just really don't like this guy. I know I shouldn't hope he loses a friend but when that friend is potentially a threat to our relationship...yeah I hope he realizes he ain't good and dumps him.
No respectable boyfriend, fiancé, husband, whatever tolerates a friend talking poorly about their significant other.
