Is there anyone who has a lower income compared to their spouse? I have earnt less from my husband for a number of years because of illness I work part time, I try to get by each month by the income that I earn. However my husband has very different views on money and also that he feels I should be able to get by on the money I earn when for me I find it a struggle. I worry about money and I often feel he says things which make me feel we are separate people rather than a married couple. In terms of saving up for my travel card he stressed me over it and then I had to take money from him because I had a less saved up and I feel he belittles me over that aspect- that I am not capable of money management in the same way that he is. I try to work harder and think of other ways in which I can become more stable financially wise. I feel that to me it doesn't seem good enough somehow.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
In your case you are making a lot less than him I suspect. Does he expect you to pay an equal share of everything or is it a matter of he expects you to pay for your transportation to and from work, any incidentals you want. Does he give you some money aside from your salary?
Are you able to go back to work full time? Sometime to you just have to renegotiate the terms of whatever agreement you had with your husband due to circumstances changing.
There sure are allot of ways to run any set of books and whatever way you run them, getting the columns to add up is an on-going challenge. Keep sorting, Rampage. Your answers are in there.
Money is a very emotional topic for marriages and that is because mismanagement can cause a lot of damage.
Are you and your spouse able to take the emotions out of your financial decisions? Emotions are the biggest cause of poor monetary decisions.
My husband was understanding when I made half of what he made. I did not pay one half of the bills as it wasn't feasible for me to do so at the time. Now that I make more, I contribute more.
You said that you feel your spouse belittles you for not making enough and not being able to pay for things as he does. This is concerning. Would he treat a business partner the same away about a mutual investment? If not, then he should not be treating you that way either. Our spouses should be understanding about our difficulties in life.
If he is using these remarks as a way of expressing frustration over a difficult situation, try to encourage him to express his feelings about that rather than direct hurtful comments towards you.
Do not consider this blaming you, but we all need to look at ourselves objectively in our problems as that helps us to see how we may be contributing to the difficulties. If you think that you are being irresponsible in your spending then you could work on that. If you are responsible, then you have nothing to be ashamed about by making less money than him. You can only do what you can.
When ever I need something and I only ask if its for our daughter.he's good about it and he'll always ask if I need something.
