Hello, I’m new here and feeling lost.
I have been married to my current husband a little over a year. When we met and dated he was a dream.
However, that has been changing more and more each time we have a disagreement. Anytime I upset him he becomes very verbally demeaning. I have gone to therapy, started school at the age of 45, anything I can to be good enough and literally turned myself upside down trying to make him happy. He’s great until I make him mad.

When i was in the ER February 16th 2025, i was being admitted to ICU where i was for 3 weeks, then had to relearn to walk for 3 weeks in another hospital rehab floor, the nurse told me something that made me feel for over 18 months now that i was finally *safe*. You don't 'make him mad' sweetie..... That anger is within him and he lashes out .... This is abusive
If he isn't willing to get help either with you or on his own I would consider what comes next for you
You deserve to be treated with respect and kindness
Control freaks and abusers do isolate you.....
I would call a woman's abuse shelter...... they understand what's going on so well however I would make sure you are safe when doing so
Do you have any family who can help you?
