I ended up changing my tactic with dating and started acting just a little bit avoidant and superficial, and it landed me a girlfriend who is decent at being emotionally available. She talks to me freely and does a decent job leaving me emotionally fulfilled. But she needs to improve a little more. She hugs me sometimes, and holds my hand too. She smiles at me too and connects with me when I look her in her eyes.
Anyways, I don't think your man will change. He can try and fake it a little and give you small amounts of being emotionally available, but he'll just slip right back into his usual avoidant personality disorder.
I suggest that you act a little bit stand-off-ish with the next guy and let your emotions out in a measured way towards him, and you'll pleasantly find a happy medium.
Having said the above, I still have the urge to fall deeply head over heals for the wrong lady, but I just deny myself, ignore it, and it quickly goes away. It's sad though. I hope things get better for me and that my girlfriend will fall deeply in love with me. Something inside me thinks maybe that stuff just happens in movies... *sigh*
Life it too short!
