While I like men, I tend to not seek them out for friendships.

It is possible if you're clear upfront what you are seeking.

Sure you can but you both have to understand the level of the friendship and never cross that line. But if the friendship begins with some emotions of love interest from either of you then you are both are in for a very rocky friendship.

It has been my experience that real men like a lady that is a WHOLE person. That being a lady that is fully capable of existing on her own. She may choose to be with a male friend,but certainly does not NEED him in her life. That also works the other way as it should. In that case I believe a relationship of friendship will work. If either one becomes needy and loses their wholeness the relationship is doomed.

I m not a man obviously, but I think there is always sexual tension involved.
I don't know any male friend of mine who doesn't think about having sex with me. They don't all tell me this, obviously, I just know what they are thinking by their body language.
This is why I don't hang out with my male friends without my partner present.

In my experience, I'm the only heterosexual male capable of having platonic friendships with women. With that said, when I was single, I preferred the anonymity of a one-night stand.

I had male friends in college. But after that, meh. I had no desire to be friends with guys. So not interested. I mean, friendly, sure. But actual buddies where you hang out and share things? Nope.

Oh, and again from my experience - I had a fiancé who insisted that his female friends were only friends and blah blah blah and how I am jealous and insecure.. we had many arguments about it. I was 100% right - these " friends" were either past , current or potential booty calls.
In my new relationship, my man has female friends and I am still not sure what to think, because he is not the cheating type. I just keep my eyes open and trust my intuition.

I heard, or read somewhere, that men always want sex. And as they get older, they want to be waited on and mothered. As for platonic friends, a man said, "Yeah, I pretty much want to NAIL them too!" (If men get any more romantic, we won't be able to stand it, right?)

I find many of these responses troubling. First not every man wants to have sex with every woman. Men aren't the only ones who think about sex. I think it is high time women quit fooling themselves in thinking all men want their sex and that sex isn't something women don't think about. The attraction between male and female will always be there it's a matter of self control. Also for a guy to have sex with his female friend there are two factors in play from both the male and the female. Those unspoken signals and she has to agree to sex or it's rape. Very often women may not realize the signals they project to a male. There are a number of sex crazed women who are just good at hiding it. So ladies please stop the innocent act. But I do say that the topic of sex must be set right in the very beginning of the friendship. This is where all of us are guilty because the line is never drawn. It is almost as if there is this hope if the boundaries are never set just maybe someday it will happen. Male and female friendship can be done. But an ex or booty call friend is begging for trouble.

I actually don't believe all men befriend women just to have sex with them. I do agree people need to get on the same page up front about what they are looking for.. But I think it's unusual to maintain close platonic relationships especially if both people are single. Not impossible, but just takes kind of evolved people.

A male will never befriend a Female-unless she just sucks or becomes very compulsive and of Course if she is not attractive. Unless his Gay or BI-he will always want have sex with you....

Wow This is the second post where I have read Tyring's writing of being a total and complete male pig. I actually have many female friends in this world and I can honestly say that sex dose not come to mind with almost all of them. For me the females that I would be interested in making love already know how I feel and the boundary is just friends and I am content with that. I do feel that already59 has a very good point! Women can be just as wanting of a physical relationship as men can be. I would say that its not as common as a lot of men are sexually minded and do covet women for that purpose.

Oh and I will say that I am a Man, I am NOT gay or bi and I always try to respect anyone (male or female) that returns the respect. All of my female friends are beautiful, but that dose not mean I want to sleep with them.
