This community is dedicated to grandparents who are the primary caregivers of their grandchildren. In cases where the parents are not willing or able to provide adequate care for their children, grandparents may take on the role of primary caregivers. She's been "different" from the joyous, happy, pink-cloud person she was all summer. It started when Loverboy had to be in the hospital for a month.
That one weekend (around the end of January) she came down here with a black eye "from running into a door" HAHAHA.
Then she looked pale and yellow. Then the phone calls became erratic. Then she crashed Loverboy's car and totalled it.
Last weekend she was supposed to come down on Friday - didn't show up until late Saturday. This weekend it was supposed to be Thursday, but she called around noon yesterday (Friday) and asked to be picked up at the bus at 3:30. She slept the rest of the day and all night. This morning she's still very quiet.
I happened to be reading a cop novel and a character mentioned a criminal check, so I logged on to the city's court system. Sure 'nuff, she was busted for purchasing a controlled substance on 1/18 -- the date fits. Her hearing is March 14.
I'm saying nothing. I'm simply going to email my husband the PDF of the court docket and let him handle it.

Everything they do is a three-act play. They have SUCH complicated lives that they don't have time to call their kids, find a job or do much of anything. And it's SO difficult to call anyway because they lose the phone, lose the charger, run out of minutes, yada-yada. Grrrrrrrr.
