my 3 gk's, currently ages 9, 7 and 4, had been living with us in protective custody for a bit more than a month when my son and his wife were killed in a traffic accident in september, 2019. just in time to process the shock in coronaville. ouchus maximus.
we are 3.5 years into the adventure and still looking for that new normal. we have stabilized far enough that some days i think we have found it, but? ? ? what a long, strange trip its been. i'm not sure i'd know normal if it bit me on the nose. the only "normal" i really believe in is normal-for-me and this aint't it.
i, too, could use someone to talk to. i keep hearing that grandfamilies are the fastest growing trend in the industrial world, but we don't seem to be finding one another. well. . . i, for one, don't have much time for the looking. 3 kids sure can keep you hopping.
steadying support for that transition to having the baby around. my days are still quite exhausting, but nothing like they were during that early transition from retired life to this second parenting career.
