GERD & Heartburn Support Group
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is defined as chronic symptoms or mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. This is commonly due to transient or permanent changes in the barrier between the esophagus and the stomach. If you are afflicted with GERD or heartburn, join the group and find support.
I then chop up a banana or two and a few strawberries and blueberries. Things like that. I find that just putting in a banana, about 200ml of milk and a digestive enzyme I've emptied from the capsule leaves me with a really 'clean' feeling inside my stomach and I actually feel hungry afterwards and even though I'm burping a little, I'm not burning as I would be with most other food and drink (with their acidic content) I suppose you could exchange the milk for cream and see how you get on with that. There's lots of different varieties and mixtures you can come up with. Be creative, and if you find a good one, I'd be very interested to know!
I think at least with a natural smoothie of milk and fruit you know what's going into the ingredients. It's funny that GERD is now a 'new' thing that is on the rise and everyone blames diet and obesity because I never really had a bad diet and I've always been very active and maintained a healthy weight. I suppose I did eat quite a lot of microwave meals during my study years from 1999 - 2004 and as ready made processed meals are a relatively 'new' thing aswell, perhaps the ingredients of this should be looked into as a starting point. We really have no idea what's being chucked into these things. Just a thought......
