"You must not have sexual relations with a man as you would a woman. That is a hateful sin."

That's the main quote they use, and i have absolutely no idea what to do about it...

I dont know why its a sin but everyone sins and god forgives them so i guess if i am sinning for being gay then i think god will forgive me... but still even though he is forgiving me for sinning i still dont really know why its wrong... sorry that didnt really make sense lol...... ill just say i dont know why its a sin

It doesn't really make sense, because there are quotes condemning heterosexual couples as well (though most have to do with adultery) and there are relationships in the bible that seem to be homosexual. One in particular, but I can't remember her name. Rose I think?

well since women and men are not the same physically there is no way to have sexual relations with a man like a women. If taken literally.

honestly I do not think God will condem us for loving someone male or female.

Well i think i agree with you all. God will forgive us if it is a sin, but it probably isn't. Yeah i know there was woman and also apparently there were two men who were apparently close and believed to be gay, and they were well respected.


And no, if homosexuality is a sin, then whether you have anal sex or not doesn't matter. If you have homsexual thoughts, kiss another guy etc they are all counted, but i dont think any of them are a sin.

I know for a fact that the bible only mentions stuff about being gay only 9 times; 4 in the OT and 5 in the NT. But i also know God is love and that even if he created us the way we are then god loves us. I think some people like to take bible stories literally such as the sodom story. but I don't believe it is a sin if we were created this way.

First, you started off with a misconception. In the Catholic Church, it is not a sin to be gay. We were created that way, we didnt choose it. Ergo, it is not a sin.

According to official Roman Catholic teaching, it is only a sin when two homosexual people give into lust and have "sexual relations" (whatever that really means). Yes, Leviticus is one piece of Scripture people will use to defend that position. Are you ready for a secret? WE ACTUALLY HAVE A REASON!

In Roman Catholic thought, sexuality is to be soley expressed within marriage. Thus, a married couple (ideally) are the only people having sex (if only, if only). Continuing on that thought is that extra-marital sex is sin because it is outside a marriage (a union of two souls into one). Now, also according to official Roman Catholic teaching, and Scriptural support, marriage is reserved for one man and one woman. That said, gay people can not marry (in the eyes of the Church, please dont site the examples of Canada, Massachutes, and some European countries).

THE SIN THAT HOMOSEXUALS ENGAGE IN IS THE EXACT SAME SIN AS THE ONE UNWED HETEROSEXUALS ENGAGE IN! THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE; ITS THE SAME EXACT SIN. heeeheee.

At the end of the day, its all about love. As it has been pointed out, God is love, and those who love remain in God. Frankly, all the people who judge us (tsk, tsk) are engaging in a far worse sin. (Whoever hates his brother remains in the dark).

I'm afraid that when people say "Maybe it is a sin, but i don't need to worry about that cos i'll be forgiven." it doesn't work like that.
You can't take that forgiveness for granted, God does forgive us, but only if we recognise it as sin, and ask for that forgiveness.
It's a bit like saying "I'll do everything that is a sin, i'm gonna rape children, kill everyone i possibly can and blaspheme, but then when it comes to the judging i'll ask for forgiveness, and go straight to heaven."
Do we really think that God will fall for that? No, he will say "You expect me to forget everything you have done, just because you pretend to regret it?"
So we really do have to know whether it is a sin, otherwise we're in danger of being as hippocritical as that.

I struggle with this as well. I don't believe it's a sin, but I can respect the people who fall there theologically because I'm a big believer in people interprating the Bible for themselves. Still, I find it ridiculous when people put so much focus on it. If it is a sin, all sins are the same. Killing someone is the same as telling a white lie. But the sin thing has never made sense to me, before I even really knew I was gay. I just honestly believe it's something we can't change, and I can't believe God would make us this way if it was wrong... And besides a lot of verses in the Bible that people point to as saying homosexuality is a sin are talking about sex outside of marriage if you look at the context and they're calling out heterosexual couples too. *shakes head* People should look at context more often.

1 John 5:17

All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that is not deadly.

Well maybe I shouldn't say all sins are the same... But what I mean is a sin is a sin in the eyes of God.
For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking it all. (James 2:10) So what I mean is... like God doesn't look at Hitler and a saint and go "Well Hitler sinned way more, obviously he's worse of a person." Because if the saint has sinned once (and clearly they have because we all sin) they're guilty of breaking the law same as Hitler. You get where I'm coming from? *Shrugs* That's what I've always been taught and that's my own personal understanding of God's grace.

Yes, I think I do. But let's remember that there are very distinct differences between Saints and Hitler. Quoting Mother Teresa, the Saints were very much aware of their sinfullness and when they expressed that they thought they were the worst people, they weren't lying. So far as my understanding of Hitler, he was arrogant and believed himself to be supremely right over every other human being.

At anyrate, a point I believe we can agree on is that we should "avoid sin and the near occasions."
