Yes h pylorii is a different issue to heal but has the same symptoms. Dont treat yourself for a long time. Gastritis wants to keep coming back over and over again. The more disciplined you are the better the success. Omega 3 is one of those tricky ones. It is almost like having salmon. I had to stay away from it for about a year. The reality is in order to heal gastritis your diet wont be as varied and you will be lower in nutrition. It is hard to accept that one but you have to get rid of gastritis firstly. Probiotics were an issue for me too. Everyone is different with gastritis though. I stuck to the same foods for a year and a half and after that I rarely have had an issue with it and it may only have been there for a day and then it is gone. I havent had it for over 3 years now. Just keep in mind it takes the stomach lining a long time to heal and the nerves get affected too. That is why I think you can feel so lousy with this problem too. Stay the course for a long time or it will keep coming back over and over again. I have seen many people on this site who keep getting it back. You have to be disciplined. Hard for most people though!

I have gastritis in 3 time.

First time in March of 2014, It's took 2 week to pain free and 2 month for heal.
Second time in March of 2016, it's took 2 week to pain free and 1 month for heal
Third in Jan 2018, took 2 week to OK however it's back after 4 cup of beer 1 week later. It's till here with me during 4 months and time to recovery may delay long long time.

I think gastritis can comeback when we don't think it come whatever we try to do. No signal to tell us time to stop. That's suck !

I was diagnosed 2 years ago and recovered after about 5 months but got a different doctor in the same practice who was all about coming off tablets and using stress relief and gym to manage. I tried for 12 months and the past 5 months have been hell. I went to another doctor who said that no way should never come off 20mg a day to control gastritis. As I have done this before know that it will take about 4-5 months and that have to eat small meals 6 times a day or so (about a side plate full of food). Carry dry plain crackers around with you and if you feel sick eat 1 or 2. Don't let yourself get hungry and stick to plain foods until the symptoms settle. Biggest trick for me is taking IRON once a day with Vit B and Vit C. Keeps my energy up as I have very long days. The one thing I hate the most is the headaches and RASH. Can't get rid of the rash at all. My hands and feet are like an animal got at me all scratched up I'm doing it in my sleep and don't even realise. Anyway moral of the story eat small, drink loads, if you can exercise and take IRON for the tiredness (if you can) and dry crackers. It will get better its trial and error so keep your food diary.

Thank you for sharing. I was pain free yesterday but aching today. Maybe it was the baby carrots or grapes.......I will be having a 2nd endoscopy next month at doctor recommendation as she is not sure why I am still having symptoms even though they are much milder. Seems like it will never go away. 8 months is a long time when I have never had any stomach problems before.

lovelyone just wanted to say cheerios can be bad, thats crunchy and processed and yogurt too. I can't do yogurt myself, acidic stuff.

For breakfast I do cream of rice and do eggs and fresh french bread from bakery with some butter.

forgot to add since I read you. Grapes are acidic!

Only 2 fruit are safe - Papaya and bananas

Good information thanks. It seems some times certain foods are irritating and sometimes not. Things are improving though and feeling better. What caused your gastritis?

I'm so confused with all the information out there. Alot of people seem to say that they get results from a combination of mastic gum, slippery elm, l-glutamine and zinc carnosine. Does anyone have information on this? I am 33 years old and have been suffering from severe gastritis symptoms for over a month now. I had a scope last week and was told that I suffer from gastritis and have a few antral erosions and redness of my stomach. Doctor has me on Contoloc 40mg (pantoprazole) twice daily for 7 days. I take probiotics and digestive enzymes religiously, I sleep at least 7 hours every night, I exercise regularly and I'm not overweight, so I really don't understand why this happened to me. I did have to be on a 2 week stretch of NSAIDs in Jan but these symptoms only presented themselves 2 months after stopping NSAID usage. Would really appreciate some help and advice?

Hi phare 85. I am in the same boat as you and am new to all this. Mine was triggered by nsaid but seems to take on a life of it's own until the inflammation calms down. What did your doctor say the cause was. The radiology report from the endoscopy should indicate it. I wish I could be more helpful but you are not alone. Hopefully others will post some feedback on supplements they have tried. The slippery elm and aloe juice did not help me. So I am on nexium and carafate. What probiotic do you use?

Hey Lovelyone, I am happy to say that my gastritis symptoms are gone......so it took me 4 full weeks to recover....during that time I took Pepcid for 21 days, tried Protonix, lasted 5 days, had to stop as it made me sick.....cleaned up my diet (eliminated all inflammatory foods), didn't take any supplements as though make me feel unwell too :( I stopped the 12.5 mg zoloft (which they prescribed for the Vagus nerve) but that made me sick too! Soon as I stopped that (I had taken it for 2 weeks total), all gastritis symptoms vanished....it was very strange! Anyway, sticking with the clean eating plan for good, I will occassionally allow myself a cheat day, however I will not go back to eating all of those foods on a daily/weekly basis, do not want another gastritis flare ever again if I can help it! Hope you are doing better!!

Hi sjh good news you are healed! For me not yet but things are milder. Still not sure why its hanging on but will have another endoscopy next month. GP says she thinks it is functional whatever that is. Very tired of it. Take care.

I felt half decent on the weekend and now it is back with a vengeance. Can't sleep. Been off work for 2 weeks. Burning stomach. At night everything burns! Sooooo frustrating. Have had ultrasound, bloodwork and CT with contrast. All clear. Waiting on gastroscopy appt. Terrified of what they will find. This ongoing pain and burning can't be just gastritis?? There are times I can't even function. Is anyone else losing weight and missing work? No appetite and I used to LOVE eating! I'm afraid I never will again :(

Hi 24. I dont have burning but just ache and some nausea comes and goes. Mine started 8.5 months ago! I started getting treatment 6 months ago. I thought for sure it would be gone by now. It is awful. Lost couple of pounds but it is really hard to maintain much less gain. Appetite somewhat better. Definitely not back to normal and I worry if I ever will be. I would say if the other tests were normal for you it is not likely they will find anything. Let us know how it goes.
