Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Lemon and gastritis

Hi all, I'm looking for some advice. Is lemon good or bad for gastritis? Citrus are usually on avoid list, but on the other hand, I found lemon on remedy list for the treatment of gastritis. Even though a lemon is acidic, it is alkaline once it enters the body.


I used to drink one squeezed lemon in warm water every afternoon, and I had many benefits. But after a few months, gastritis occurred suddenly after intense stress. Now I'm not sure what the real cause was, lemon or stress, or maybe both.


What's your experience with lemon? Should I avoid it or not? Any advice will be very appreciated.

Ive actually read good and bad things about lemon and gastritis.Alot of good saying it can cure it?? but then also read saying lemon juice on an empty stomach can cause it! so I'm not sure.I occasionally have lemon in my water if I eat out and it doesnt seem to affect me much either way.Interested to see what others experiences have been..I think i would avoid it though,if your gastritis started up after you were drinking it every afternoon...Hope you feel better soon!

    I am suffering from the inability to cope with ordinary every day things.  From my housework to watching tv or reading a book.  I get palpatations, nervousness, at the moment my heart is palpatating and all I am doing is typing this.  I am so scared its silly, I just want to stay in bed and just get up for meals and coffee.  Not that that is going to happen.  At the moment I have my daughter...
