family feel the pain more than we do i took it out on my wife to start with as she didnt understand the pain i was going through but once she read posts on here she was able to put my problems into context with other sufferers she still has the odd moan when im in pain as she wants to do things & i just want to rest luckily ive had 1 bad flare up in the last 6 weeks

I know how you feel kl31 as my gastritis is always flaring up. It hurts really bad too. I went to the doctors last night and he told me to take double PPI, 2 a day and Gaviscon. He said not to bother with Sucralfate. I didn,t sleep for most of the night for the pain. They did say get back to them if it got worse but they can,t do anything anyway. Also Ive been having pain a couple of days in a disc in my lower back. Ive got some cream,Algesal to rub on. It contains aspirin so could upset my stomach,also I think its made me gaspy with my asthma. Im not going to use it again. I hope you feelm better soon.

Thank you all! I will never give up because I have two wonderful children who will somehow always make me smile. Just feel like I get hit pretty hard sometimes and I worry that other things may be wrong as well. Sometimes I feel like my.whole gastronomy system is messed up! Always nice to ha e people to talk to though. This site is.amazing!

I think I'm close to broken. I'm in the middle of a flare up and am unsure if its the IBS or the gastritis. The thing is NOTHING has changed in my routine or diet to cause this. Do others have flare ups for no known reason? I've been like this for 10 days now. I was to upset to come to the site as I'd been going so well for a while with the odd day or two of pain. I figured if I didn't come on and vent it wouldn't be real. I haven't told anyone how tough it is for me just now. My friends and family have been wonderful but how much can they take?
When will find a cure for all of this?

Your friends and family can take more than you think they can. As for the flareup, there doesn't have to be a reason behind it for it to still hurt. You are strong my friend, but even the strongest person in the world cannot carry the burden alone (says the pot to the kettle!). I am happy that you came here and vented. Remember you will always have support, from many people and many places, even in the best of times. But in the worst, never ever be afraid to just let it all out.

Treat yourself well. Remember the flare will go down in time and use your mantra. One day at a time, one step at a time. You will get through this, I promise.

kl31 you are amazing to have gone through so much already - more than most of us... you're stronger than you think you are. I salute you! (I whinge and don't even have kids to worry about as well!).

soretum - I wonder if your body (immune system) could be fighting off a bug at the moment? So even though you haven't changed diet or anything else externally, then it could be something internally like the immune system which fires off loads of chemicals for the inflammatory response & could aggravate gastritis & ibs?

This sounds like me last week after eating potato soup. Yeah, just eat what you CAN eat and nothing bad, I'd say for about two weeks. As for pain, I get soreness around my mid back. Since I don't trust pain meds on my stomach right now, I put a heating pad on my back and it feels good.

How are you now? Mines not much better. Do you have Gaviscon or Sucralfate to line your stomach? Im on Gaviscon still but Im not sure what is better now. I keep going. Anyway Ive started to try goats milk and honey,u can warm it up and its soothing. Ive got soy milk too. I supose we have to keep trying whatever is anti-inflammatory.

Milk and honey actually sounds pretty good. Maybe I'll try my coconut milk warmed with honey. It's off and on for me right now. I don't have any Gaviscon. Perhaps I'll pick some up. Just hoping that this will go away soon. I am really enjoying my smoothies, but I could use some more food options :) Right now it's 2 smoothies a day, and some boiled carrots and potatoes with a slice of cheese (cheese does not seem to bother me at all). Sometimes I have a tortilla shell because I can also handle that. Just longing for the day that I can have what I want again. Fat seems to be the biggest no-no for me right now. Everything i eat is practically fat free. I really hope it's just the gastritis and my sphincter of oddi. Don't know if I could handle anything else. I have diverticulosis, no gall bladder, sphincter of oddi dysfunction, a slight hiatal hernia, chronic gastritis, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, a tilted uterus, and pelvic congestion syndrome. I had GERD a long time ago but don't seem to have issues with that now. I joke with my husband that they may need to just replace my entire gastrointestinal system :) Thanks for the idea of milk and honey! Hope yours gets better soon! I'm praying for us all!
