Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I'm also suffering from gastritis from last 2 months. My main issue is persistent pain in upper left abdomen. I'm so scared..and depressed and hopeless....Sometime, I feel is it gastritis or something else.....
Do you also feel abdominal pain ?
I am a 24 year old female who has what appears to be gastritis. All my symptoms point to it, and I remember getting a diagnosis of gastritis after one of my recent ER visits anda following endoscope. I am a 24 yr old female. My pain started earlier this year (possibly around January or February 2012). Since then, it has flared up every 2-3 months. I have been in the ER twice for this problem, with severe "gnawing" like pain in my upper abdomen that seems to spread around. Sometimes I have accompanying back pain or small episodes of heartburn/GERD. But the main problem is the PAIN, nausea, and weakness. I have been missing work, a few classes, and had to miss out on several important trips/events with my boyfriend of almost 2 years. It not only is putting a damper on my life, but the people around me (boyfriend, boss, friends, etc). The flare up I am currrently trying to get over was so severe that I was in the ER last Saturday. I had been constipated for 5 days, took what I believe was too many laxatives, and became violently ill one night (days before my ER trip). Since this episode, I am in constant pain, unable to eat too much, feeling very weak, and discovered I cannot tolerate wine as of now. This is unfortunate as I do enjoy a good glass of wine with dinner or on the weekend. I have a prescription for Ranitidine (which I do not take everyday), clidinium or bentyl, and zofran. If anyone has any advice or suggestions about how to deal, what would be helpful to take for the symptoms (I'd like to be able to enjoy food and drink again!), I would SO much appreciate it. It's hard dealing with this. Oh and I am also taking lexapro 10mg
