Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

My staples in my painful times - potato, rice, yoghurt, bananas, pumpkin, zucchini, and my all weather stand by, the humble egg. I was always able to eat ginger and turmeric and the italian herbs. These are all good for your tummy.
If you can handle some of the Indian spices you can make your own curries at home. It may not be what you're use to but believe me it does you sanity the world of good to taste some vaguely familiar flavours. I'm so grateful for the many foods I've gained back. It has been a long process but my focus has always been to regain some of my old life back.
I'll happily answer any questions and share recipes. Just let me know if I've answered you question.

we seem to be on the same wave length. I'll do anything to keep that horrid pain at bay. I'm so grateful for the many foods that have returned to my diet and still cannot believe I can eat tomato, onion and garlic again. If eating certain foods now and then like you with the biltong keeps them in my diet I do that to. Great news on that. Are you in South Africa? I only ask as most other countries call it jerky.
I hope you continue adding new foods when you feel the time is right.
I have white coating on my tongue too at times, it is a thin layer, though. It usually happens when I eat some fried food that made me prone to sore throat. Or when the weather is extremely hot. And I know it is also somehow related to the stomach acid in my stomach so I don't bother too much about it.
You may not believe or take to this, but in Chinese "Yin-Yang" terminology, a white coating in the tongue means imbalance in the stomach and spleen (an organ which aids in digestion). The imbalance results in sub-optimal digestion, bloatedness etc which will create "heat" in the digestive system, resulting in a white coating in the tongue, sore throat, inflammation etc.
The solution to reduce the "heat" is simple : drink lots of water. If you can take coconut water, drink it too as it will "dispel the heat". I also gurgle with warm salt water - let it stay in your mouth for 1- 2 mins before spitting it out. do it a few times. Gurgle with salt water before you sleep is one of the best remedy to get rid of dry mouth and white coat in your tongue.. I will also drink some of the salt water too.
(PS: in the net, there will be plenty of suggested solutions to this issue in Chinese medicine, but proceed with extreme caution as the Chinese doctor might not be experienced/skilled, or the Chinese medicine might not go down well with gastritis patients. )
Hope this helps...
I also tried red lentils with safety and this morning I tried red kidney beans. I'm trying to increase foods good for menopause. so many foods, so many health issues. lol
