Years ago, I started a new school. Before I started, I asked the staff about how well over weight people were accepted in the field. I knew that is the last accepted prejudice out there. That prejudice is my biggest fear of not being able to lose what I need to or regaining.
to have WLS were the multiplying health issues creeping up on me over the last decade. Also, envisioning my future in the hospital because of my health issues didnt sit too well with me! Yes, I did this RNY for me obviously, but it was for my family also. I couldnt bear the thought of them having to deal with my health problems, when i can do something about it now, to avoid that.
--Convincing myself I was afraid of amusement rides because I was scared of not fitting in the seat.
--Not going on trips with friends because again the fear of not fitting in the plane seats.
--Avoiding getting together with friends because I knew I could not keep up with them.
As far as the worse thing about being fat......
Having answer the same question....is this going to hold me? And
Making jokes about yourself before anybody else so that it doesn't hurt as much when they laugh.
You know how fast food restaurants put their tables so close together? I hate that uncomfortable moment when I'm ready to stand up and leave my table but first I must look to the next table and decide how to do it...
Do I get out while facing *his* table and put my t!ts in his face, or do it while facing my own table and put my a$$ in his French fries?
Skinny people will not understand this at all...
Mora, THANK YOU for sharing what is possible!
And yeah, Linda.... You cracked me up! I needed that today!
And Rubymama... just the other day I was noticing I am less fearful of stairs, still a ways to go, but its getting better every day! And when I go back to classes end of Sept... I am way less fearful of the desk-chair combos!
Now what I hate(d) about being fat-
Being the largest woman in a room
Shopping in the Woman's sizes (no matter what fancy name they give the department, it's still the big clothes)
Wondering if my adult children looked at me and thought "My mom is a fat person"
Not feeling sexy
Love, KD
Never being asked out on dates when I was a teenager!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"I am struggling again today. Struggling with the ease I can eat... Struggling with the fact that so many can only eat a couple bites and are full... Struggling with the fact that some just are not interested in food anymore. And none of this is me!" - you could have written this about me!!!
I have always felt kind of bad that I haven't suffered more, That food has been easy, that exercize is effortless, that I've had no complications. And like you - a few bites doesn't fill me up and I still really enjoy eating and cooking.
And yet I look at myself and at almost 8 months out, I've lost 80 pounds and am 15 from my goal. So I must be doing something right :) I still have bad days - two days ago, all I wanted was pretzels and french onion dip, oh and wine!! I overdid it and knew that it was directly related to the death of my beloved friend who performed my wedding service. But you wake up the next day, dust yourself off, go exercize and get back on the plan. I REFUSE to be fat again, I just do and you will too.
For the record, my worst moment being fat was when I ran into an old boyfriend from 30 years ago. He took one look at me, sneered and said "I'm glad I dodged that bullet." It still stings...
Your post made me cry!!
It is good to hear others have had the same "easy" time of it yet are still successful! This makes me cry tears of joy! :) Thank you!
And as I read your comment about your 'worst time' running into an ex boyfriend... that makes me cry! (and wanna stomp on him and wish him hemorrhoids or something!) But also because I have an ex boyfriend (was very serious) that I still love... (don't anyone get me wrong... my hubby is my life! but.... I do have a past too!) And I would literally move the moon and stars to prevent him from EVER seeing me this fat! I don't know what he'd say, my guess would be nothing rude... but that does not matter, for I know what he'd think... (or at least I think I do!) So... this makes me cry too! Cry for the sting it still causes you and for the dread of the pain in seeing my ex fella!
Must be cry day #2 for me :)
