What Hospital, in what city, and who was your doctor? What Surgery and on what day. How has your success gone so far? How much did you have to pay for your surgery, approx total price, did insurance cover it?

No complications of any kind, I am thrilled with the aftercare my program has given me and the great education and preparation beforehand.

I have lost 24 lbs. since surgery, but the biggest change is in my health. Before surgery I was taking 2 different pills for diabetes plus insulin, a water pill and a pill for high blood pressure and now I only take 1 diabetes pill and my blood pressure meds twice a day. But my sugar levels have been pretty low (130 and under even had a 95 this morning....woohoo) and my blood pressure was 107/65 this am so I may not be on those for long.
I do not have insurance so I paid out of pocket about $21,000, but it was worth every penny ($5500-surgeon, $2200-anesthesia, $13000-hospital, plus gas and hotel expenses). I spent 3 days in the hospital so my hubby had to stay in a hotel so he could be close.
There have been moments where I have questioned my decision, mostly during the first 2-3 days at home (I missed food soooooo much), but I would not change my decision for anything.
Surgeon - to be determined. With their program you don't meet with a surgeon until you're so far into it. I also have BCBS insurance and they said that I should expect an out of pocket of $3000.00 when it's all over and done with.

Pre surgery weight 240, today I'm 213.
Off of blood pressure and fluid pills. Still taking Nexium.
No complications. Weight loss is a bit slower than I thought, but I fee so much better, mentally and physically, and I'm seeing it a lot in my clothes.
My insurance is Blue Cross (primary), which did not cover the procedure. My seconday insurance is Tricare, which covered it completely.
Surgery costs $15,000. Angiogram needed before surgery costs $14,000, but I only paid $400 for that. Other tests needed were covered by insurance.
Had no problems with surgery - actually would swear never had it except for small incision spots. No longer on any diabetic meds or blood pressure meds. Feel great.

My insurance covered 100%, The only out of pocket was my nut and bariatric fitness coordinator visits.
I haven't gotten the bill yet so I am sure of the total cost.
Cost: 400 program fee for support groups and 150 co pay! Not bad for a new life ;)

I have Medicaid insurance as well as Masshealth . Presurgical appointments with the medical, nutritional and behavioral specialists take place and then I had to pay a one time fee of $500 out of pocket before I was able to attend the pre surgical skills group sessions after the last pre surgical skills class you are contacted by a surgeon and schedule surgery. I attended pre surgical classes/appointments for 14 months before getting a surgery date and I am glad I had that time to prepare.
I am no longer on diabetes medication or high blood preasure medication my PCOS sympthoms have improved as well as my chronic pain issues..
3 weeks after surgery I was back in the ER and they discovered an Ulcer I have had issues with nausea and can not tolerate most foods But am feeling better overall and I believe most of my problems have come from the Ulcer rather then the surgery itself.
IF the Dr. okays me for surgery (This coming Monday is my appt) I will have it at the Royal Alec Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta I am always nervous when I have an appointment, terrified that they will not approve me and when I go to the appts. they reassure me everything is great - just this Dr. makes me nervous. Oh well 4 more days to find out. I really appreciate these posts, and all the information everybody is so willing to give. Thank you.
