Any post-ops know if we qualify for TDI? I'm looking over the paperwork that I need to give my employer and thinking that I might not qualify sincve its not a "health related" surgery. Plus my manager knows what kind of surgery but the owner..who needs to sign off on the paperwork...only knows I'm having surgery. Starting to think I might not even apply for it...just curious what others did.
It has been awhile since I dealt with such stuff, but for FMLA, I **think** it would be covered leave....
I'd suggest putting in for it, if its not covered, HR will let you know. At least if it is similar to FMLA. :)
TDI is temperary dissability inssurance.
Here in Hawaii if you are going out on medical leave (i.e. pregnancy or surgery or any other kind of injury) then your job is supposed to submit paperwork for you to get paid while you are away.
I'm in MD but FMLA is nation wide. A company doesn't have to give you the 12 weeks off paid but you're entitled to that amount of time for a personal illness/surgery, issue or one related to a direct family member. My agency does it unpaid but you can use personal, sick or vacation to get paid. Had I been off more than that I would have been eligible for Short Term Disability.
I'd just check w/ your employer before submitting the papers.
