Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
However, any/all weight loss is pound off... so I'm not sure it matters other than to serve my (peoples) curiosity! (Which I am always curious of the different #'s pre and post)
I know you were making a point regarding the total vs. before vs after surgery, but 10#'s in a week!?!? That is nothing to put an "only" in front of! :) :)
No loss pre op
RNY on 12/15/10
Lost 150 at 2 yrs out
RNY revision on 12/10/12

Not sure what total to use for my final loss but Im holding at 138 and yesterday doc said wonderful still slightly under but were going to agree to disagree at this point.
maybe we all experience gain and loss and get confused?

302 at surgery RNY on 9/25/12
218 today 5/16/13
Total of 129 pounds lost!!!
For me... And this is just MY way of looking at it (and i have total respect for differing views!) Is if i get too caught up in the #'s of other peoples losses... Then i will start compairing my loss to theirs and expecting similar losses... Which might set me up for a smack down :)
However... Even tho i say this, and on an intelectual level am 110% there... I am still always wondering how much "did so and so lose?" And "how much was pre vs. Post op!" And "how long did it take!" :) :)

Weight at surgery 232
Current weight 185
Total loss as of today (13 weeks out) 67 pounds
I agree that I list my total weight loss as my pre-op weight loss was due to having surgery....
But since surgery I have lost 47 pounds....
I have 37 pounds to go to reach my goal weight as of today...
My weight prior to pre-op diet was 333
My weight at surgery was 321
My weight today is 250.6
Total loss (and I count from the 333) is 82.4. (those little tenths of a pound mean so much!!)

I'm 3 weeks out for my surgery, and that comment is a little disconserting.
BTW Congrats on all the weight you have lost! That's awesome :)
Even now I consider the sugery a massive success! I am so much better now than I was at 338!
I think I lost maybe 18 lb before the surgery.
