I had one before surgery then 2 after but only while I was in the hospital. It was Heprin and man did it sting!

Whew! It's not in my paperwork either... also the drain tube thing, I see where for some folks they come home with a drain tube, I don't see that in my papers either. I did add it to my Q's for surgeon just to make sure! :)

I am ok with all that while in hosp, but hope to not have to deal with it while home...

I had one right before surgery and then three times a day for three days. Little heads up if you are on birth control and havent had a menstraul cycle in.awhile the shot may cause you to start i had my menstraul for a month straight it was not expected dr didnt tell me that could happen.

Usually with any hospital stay..(I've had 2 since last July..) they give you the heparin shot, if you're laying in bed. Just a precaution.. But, if you get home, they don't ever seem to require you to keep having it, Unless they put you on an oral prescription, unless you may be bedridden, i'm assuming....or other clotting issues.

I do take a b-12 shot monthly since surgery

My surgeon is big on keeping any risks of blood clotting down, so we have to give ourselves Lovenox shots, twice a day in the belly for 28 days. My tummy looks like a big bruise lol. Everyone's doctor has their own ideas on what is best, so just ask your doctor when you see them next.

I was on Lovenox injections for about 3 months after my surgery beause of my weight and potential to have blood clots. It was not as bad as I had thought it would be - the needles were pre-filled so I didn't have to measure anything out. I would rather do the shots than take that extra risk of clotting which may lead to other complications.

I too was on Levonox injections for about a month after I came home from the hospital. This is not normal for my surgeon, I had some issues that caused the surgeon to order these shots for me. I did not give them to myself, I had my husband do it. I felt like a pin cushion!!

I did NOT have to take any injections for blood thinners.. They gave them to me in the hospital, but not at home...

I had heparin shots every 4 hours while in the hospital. They were given to me in the stomache but didn't hurt much, just some stinging.

A couple of shots in the hospital, but nothing after. No drainage tube and no catheter.

I took a pill twice a day and had to get blood work twice a week for 3 weeks after surgery

I had the shot in the hospital. I came home with a drain tube. My Doc told me that there is a chance I could come home with one. I had it for a week. I got used to it after a few days (draining it) I'm not gonna lie...it can get nasty! I've had it out for 2 weeks now and the area is still a little tender. Hopefully you won't have to have one but if you do it's not so bad, at least it wasn't for me.
