Good Evening everyone!

Does any one have experience with protein shots? Most of what I've been able to find have collagen protein in an absorbable form in the ingredient list, along with whey protein isolate. Has anyone found just whey protein isolate protein shots?

Is there any experience with any specific brands that you like or that are in the stay away from category? Flavor preferences? Any available without red dye #40?

I need to increase my protein intake by quite a bit for a healing issue, sort of unrelated to gbs. I don't want to add any calories other than those provided by the protein if I can help it.

Walmart and Vitamin Shoppe both have protein shots with Whey isolate. I don't remember the names of them.

Problem for me is the taste! I've tried them and every kind that I've tried has been horrid. Someone suggested that I add one to water to weaken it. It was still bad! YUCK.

my friend swears by Nu Whey. I've never tried them but she's been using them for the 4 yrs since surgery.

I have about a dozen in the fridge since March. they are nasty. like drinking syrup. sweet, thick liquid. hard to get down.

In the hospital they gave us Hormel Healthy Double Protein. They have 100 cal and 24 grm protein. Unfortunately I thought they were disgustingly sweet. They said you could water them down to help with they taste. Preop they gave us a taste of Yes Whey by bariatric advantage, it wasn't as bad but still to thick for me. Good luck finding one you like.

Ok. Bummer. Maybe I'll try just one and probably learn the hard way. (I'm like that!)

Anybody try mixing their favorite whey protein powder with just good ole water? I imagine it would have to be very cold to get that down. I'm thinking the Nectar fuzzy navel or Jay Robb pia colada might be worth a go.

Spotz I could never tolerate rtd, powder or any whey protein due the my abhorance of the cloying sweetness of all of them. I have managed to lose 120 lbs and many, many inches eating a high protein, minimal carb diet. I do not count calories at this point. Every couple of week I will eat more carbs for a couple of days and then go back to the minimal method and for me it seems to jump start the metabolism.. Also I believe that eating too few calories can stall weight loss as much as eating too many. Just a thought. d

proteintogo.com. I love the berry frost (no caffiene) and the wild berry (caffiene). It's hydrolized protein and whey protein isolate. No artificial colors or flavors, no gluten, no sugar. 28 grams of protein. I usually have one or two each day depending on how much other protein I get in. They're really thick so I mix it with a little water and ice. They're on the pricey side, about 3.00 per bottle but to me it's worth it. The flavor is not bitter AT ALL. I've tried many protein shots and these are the only ones that aren't sour-tasting.

i lire the nectar wild cherry with water its awesome. But not into the fuzzy navel or some of the other fruit ones.

I like the New Whey liquid protein bullets. 42 grams of protein.Unfortunately they have everything in them that your trying to avoid. Fruit punch is my favorite flavor, with orange as a close second. I mix 10oz of water/ice with one bullet. It's like kool-aid to me. I drink 1/2 after breakfast and the other half after lunch. Someone told me that our bodies can't process more than 20 grams of protein at a time. They're available at Wal-Mart, I buy them at supplement warehouse.com, they're a bit cheaper that way.

Spotz, I don't do shots but I never mix my nectar with anything BUT water! My program doesn't allow milk so water is it. Never considered doing anything other thant he water, and I like the taste just fine.

I mix Gold Standard Extreme Milk Chocolate flavor with water and lots of ice (my vitamix turnes it into a frosty consistency). I used to do double scoops but lately I've been doing a scoop of the Gold Standard with a scoop of Protizyme Peanut Butter flavor. I also use a large milkshake straw.

Thanks guys! The New Whey watermelon is tolerable. Had to sip little sips and very slowly. (Took me back to the early days :) ) I only took half of it. This evening, I mixed the remaining half with a bottle of cold water. So far, so good. Tomorrow I'll try my usual protein powder in water and will let cha know how it goes!

No real rush on perfecting the extra protein intake, but I really really hate having things hanging!
