Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I actually read a comment earlier today and thought how could anyone comment to someone like that. So this post is a bullseye. Thank you for posting.
I know, I try to put in MY posts..this is what my dr said, but you should ck with your own bariatric team.

Thanks for posting Becca...it is better to police ourselves than to be policed by someone outside of us. :-)

I have talked to several friends some of whom have gone to my doctor. I sure hope they are as happy as I am with the results.
When I answer a question I generally tell a person to check with their doctor or this is just my opinion.
I also feel that some surgeons are in it only for the money and not the best interest of their patients.
Here in this forum it should be about support AND education. You can't educate if your not going to tell the truth. A local bariatric surgeon tells his patients that they can have spaghetti-o's on the soft foods part of their plan....WHAT!?!? Spaghetti-o's are loaded with sugar and carbs. We do this surgery to change our lives and most of us were/are carb addicts. This would "feed" into that carb addiction.
In closing, keep it real, if I come here for advise, tell me the truth, tell me what works for you, tell me what I'm doing is not good. Keep it real!
Thanks for the opportunity to voice my opinion.
Shelley :o)
And Shelly,
You have NEVER said anything to anyone that seems un-supportive! I am there with you in that we can tell folks what we think... What might work better... how we did it... how it worked for us... even that we think someones program is off.... (I for one will tell anyone that Flintstones vitamins are something to reconsider even when given that option by their program!).
BUT... its so much in how we say it.... I can tell you (anyone) that I think their program is off kilter without saying "OMG! You are NOT following the rules and how could you possibly be doing THAT!?! Type of comments.... stuff I've seen lately and NEVER from you! :)
Heaven knows its not my job (nor do I want it) to police folks... I just felt compelled to share my 25 cents worth in keeping it kind so we don't lose people who come here for help!
Oh, and I also agree... TELL ME THE TRUTH! that sometimes, the things I hate to hear, that tork me off when I hear them... are often the very thing I need to hear in the first place! PLEASE, when I need to remove my head from my butt and get real... I hope someone says so! :)
