Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
In theory, we get put on it to shrink our liver and enable the surgical team to have as much room as possible to safely do their business. I was on the liquid diet for 21 days as I had a fatty liver. If you have a fatty liver, the odds are that you will be put on it.
However, some surgeons don't put their patients on this. You will have to see what your team determines as this varies from team to team.
