Hello everyone, my name is Harold and I was a friend/bandmate of Oso's.

Oso passed away September 7, 2010 from complications of his gastric bypass surgery on September 2nd. After the initial surgery, he had internal bleeding so they did a 2nd surgery that night. The following Monday night he was complaining of internal pains so they took him back in for another surgery and discovered a hole in his intestine and that he had become 'septic'. He ultimately died of heart failure.

We all (his friends and family) tried to talk him out of this procedure but he was adamant that he wanted it. I'm not a doctor, but I believe that his body just rejected the entire procedure. It's kind of like the difference in the threshold of pain between 2 different people. Some people can handle a lot, some people can't.

I know there are many people that have had this procedure with excellent results, but anytime surgery is involved, there's a risk.

His Memorial Service was held on September 14, 2010 and he was laid to rest at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.

Janine and Harold, thank you so much for responding to us. My heart goes out to all his family and friends that knew him so well.. He is in a much better place now, free of any pain or suffering. Thank you again, for thinking of us.

Janine and Harold, Thank you for sharing the information with us. I only knew Oso in the cyber world but his warmth and genuinely good guy nature came through in his written words. It sounds like he touched so many lives and will be one heck of a guardian angel for the people he loved. I will miss him.

I just got online this morning, and was so very shocked to see this news. Thank you Janine and Harold for your posts. I'm very sorry for your loss. Everyone has been concerned wondering what happened. It just doesn't seem conceivable that it's the ultimate bad news. What really saddens me is that he posted several times that he was really scared about the surgery. Everyone tried to reassure him that in the long run it would be for the best. Every person who undertakes this surgery needs to be aware of the risks and be sure that they willing to proceed. This kind of sounds like surgeon error. It's just all so sad I can hardly stand it.

This makes me very sad, my thoughts go out to the Family and friends, though i did not know him i was encouraged by his posts (one of his posts was what lead me to find this forum) Im deeply sadden that i did not have the privilege of sharing more with him.

I am sooooooooo sorry to hear of this tragedy!! I am shocked!! I have been wordering about him for quite awhile now! I feel so bad!! He talked to me via IM just about every night (since I had my sugery on 8/17/10) and I would inform him on a daily basis of how things were going! He was so afraid of not being here for his 7 year old son! I never thought this would happen to him and advised him of all the fun things he would be able to do with his son being healthy! I feel just awful now!!
Perhaps one day we will all meet again!!

Aww what a shame.. My condolances to his family and friends I'm sure he will be sadly missed!

So sad. We all know the risks going in but it is so hard to see the other side of it. Such a positive choice to live, and really live ending in such a sad situation.
My prayers are with him and his family.

Oh my gosh, I can't hardly comprehend this! Oso and I had our surgeries on the same day, September 2, 2010.
I have been wondering why I haven't seen him on-line. This is so very sad. He was so looking forward to this surgery and becoming healthier for his family.
Praying for his family's peace and comfort in the loss of Oso.

How sad :( We talked a couple times on IM and I remember how worried he was about his surgery....I reassured him we all felt that way. God bless his family and friends.

I am so so so sad. We talked all the time and he shared his music with me. I will pray for his family to find peace.
