This was my journal entry but can't see too well right now and posting here just FYI... Pray for good results for me!
So I haven't been online a whole lot in the last few weeks.. I've had such bad eye strain after working on a computer all day that by the time I get home I can't even see to look at my personal stuff, so I just haven't been. I keep up a little at work, but otherwise wait til morning to catch up on the boards, when I can see.
I went to the eye doctor today because I've had this spot in my field of vision.. like I stared at a light bulb too long, you know that black spot that you can kinda see through, but not really? I've had one of those for the last 3 weeks and it's not going away. He said I have 'macular edema', so I Wikipedia'd it:
Macular edema occurs when fluid and protein deposits collect on or under the macula of the eye, a yellow central area of the retina, causing it to thicken and swell. The swelling may distort a person's central vision, as the macula is near the center of the retina at the back of the eyeball. This area holds tightly packed cones that provide sharp, clear central vision to enable a person to see form, color, and detail that is directly in the line of sight.
He referred me to a retinal specialist/surgeon to see if there is anything that they can do to make it go away. He said this usually corrects itself, but it's been 3 weeks and he's concerned. That it can cause scarring or rupture, leaving my vision permanently affected - I can't have that!
So here I sit, pupils dilated, squinting to see to type this because my pupils are the size of the moon.. wondering if I'm gonna go blind in my left eye. That sucks. Oh, and the Wikipedia article said this is usually treated with NSAIDS (danger Will Robinson!) or cortisone eye drops.. guess it's the drops for me! Cause as we all know, NSAIDS are a no-no.
Gotta try to make an appointment for next week to find out.. wish me luck!

I am sorry that you are going through this. I really do hope this passes for you quickly.
I, however, am laughing b/c on your fb post you said you reminded yourself of your blind cat. And all I can think about is that picture that you put up that he looks like he came from a paranormal activity scene. (I had to make you laugh...lol)
