Measuring ounces, weighing them??

OK, this might sound weird, but for example..

do you weigh your food, to see how many ounces it is? Or do you cram the protein into the little cup, that holds 1 ounce???

I've been cramming it into the little cup, but also have a food scale...

does it work out the same???

Could never eat at the food scale said was an ounce so I always used the cups. I'm 15months post op and I still use my lil cups. I used to measure liquid in them to but now I just use a ten ounce cup.

I use my food scale. Unless it is liquids, then I use a measuring cup.

I measure on my scale. Before I turn it on, I put the dish on. Then when I turn it on it is at zero and I put the food on the dish for the weight. Best way I know it measure. Boo, you are doing great, keep it up!

OK, I don't know if it will make a difference, but I don't imagine it would right? An ounce is an ounce, is an ounce!!! LOL!!

I'll be the weird scientist, and experiment!!

Well... not really! A fluid oz measure volume... whereas an oz is used for weight. Not sure that is real clear...

For example, an oz of chicken is 28.35 grams, but an oz of liquid is 29.57 cubic centimeters...

but... if you measure liquids with measuring cups and solids with a scale, you'll do just fine!

Kudos to you for measuring! Some folks never do....

I'm an old "WEIGHT WATCHER", so I am used to weighing my food, plus I did that when I was on my partial liquid diet, to measure my 5 oz of protein.

Don't wanna upset my new pouch!!!!!

I was thinking the same thing because my nutritionist said to use measuring cups over a scale but I think it could be miss leading. Like Boo said, cram your food in a measuring cup or fill it loosely to the same point and it would be 2 different amounts of food except liquid. I rely on a scale for all except liquids myself just for a piece of mind of just how much of an amount it is.

Chef hubby says if it is a solid, ounces must be measured on a scale. A liquid would be fluid ounces and can be in a liquid measuring cup. An example of why this is important...4 ounces of ball bearings in a liquid measuring cup would not be the same as 4 ounces of ball bearings on a scale. When something calls for 4 ounces of chicken for example, they are referring to scale. Hope that helps.
