What are their reasons for denying it?

Im curious to know why they denied as well.

I feel ur pain i fought for 11 months and 2 weeks ask ins. Why they must tell u way n when u get ur no u can fix it or show u have done whats asked i was told no cause they didnt have certian papers which i did do class also i was very blessed to have Maria lady at clinic who fought for me keep fighting dont give up its.for our health day my day two n best fight in life :)

They keep saying that I have not shown evidence of a 6 month supervised diet, but I have been seeing a dietician since June. They also said that I have not shown evidence of morbid obesity for the last two years. I did not go to the doctor in 2009 and have no weight record for that year, but I have records for 2002, 2004, 2005, ect. showing BMI above 40 for every year but 2008(which was 36) and 2009 which there is no record. 2008 was WW success and 2009 is just MIA. I don't know how to convey to them that I have been this size for almost all of my adult life....

i had a similar problem but at the last minute remembered that i had gone to an urgent care because i had a horrible sinus infection over a weekend. thank god they weighed me there. are you absolutely positive that you did not go to any doctor in 2009?? apparently the isurance companies are very strict because i had not really even skipped a year. i had gone for my regular check-up on 12/31/09 and then went for my next check-up on 1/4/11 which was only techinically a year and 3 days and they required me to wait a year in between paps. anyway, like i said try to remember if you went anywhere else.

I don't know about the 2 year history thing, but did you include any notes from your nutritionist in your submission? Mine had to write up a report each month to prove I was there.

I have checked the ER and the clinic urgent care. No visits. I wonder if they will approve for weights in January. Then I would have 2010, 2011, and 2012. lol It also does not solve the 6 month diet thing. IDK what the deal is with that. I started seeing a nut. in June of 2011. I have seen her every month except for July because she was on vacation....Just thinking something in the universe is telling me no for a reason. I am so depressed right now.

During my 6 month supervised diet, I had to go to my PCP each month to get weighed and they had to chart it and fax the number to my bariatric doc. If I would have missed even one weigh in, I would have had to start over.

Keep fighting, you will have your time in, one way or another. Ok, so its going to take a little longer, but time will pass whether you are fighting or not, so you might as well put it to use.

UR doing the right thing keep keep fighting they want u to back out now and like u said ur been over weight ur adult life tell dr to write a mean dr letter and u to and be like what for a yr u were a stick then ballooned idont think so ull get it is dr office or clinic working and fighting for u that mega helps saying a prayer for u

I think go with 2010, 2011 and 2012. Keep trying and don't ever give up. What is your ins?

We all go through so much to get here. Dont give up so soon. It took me 8 months before my insurance would approve me. So fustrating ! But I had to look at it as another day closer to survival. Time will pass whether we're fat or not, so what's the harm in waiting the insurance company out ? You WILL WIN !

I have Aetna ins. What I don't understand is that I have coworkers who have gone through exactly the same process that I have been going through and they have been approved. I guess it may not be my time right now. Soooo agravating. I have been on the pre op liquid diet since Saturday. Do I quit? Or file one more appeal. IDK........

It is truly one of the most frustrating processes you can go through.

The issue is not the insurance. Your surgeon should have staff that interfaces with insurance. They say two years you give them two years. Six months means Jun1 through Dec 31. Miss a month and you start over. Again your insurance liaison should be handling this. If your team can't handle that you may need a new team, with whatever sacrifice that means. Some people on here drive 4or5 hrs one way to get to their surgeon. Others go to Mexico. You go where you have to.

The issue is you keep dropping the "Q" word. Are you determined to get the surgery? Let the answer to that question guide your decision.

I'm sorry you are having so much trouble getting approved. I got approved about 2 days after they sent in the paperwork back in July. I had already done the weigh ins and most of the medical tests that were required. The girl in the office said I would be fast tracked, Well my surgery is not scheduled until Feb. 6. My fear now is that something will happen like getting laid off or something to screw it all up. I know that there are sound reasons for the waiting period and what not, but I think there is such a thing as waiting too long, I'm not event sure that I remember what was said in my classes they were so long ago. Good luck to you and keep fighting. You pay for that ins. make them pay attention and get your doctor involved.
