1) Recognize what you did yesterday.
2) Forgive yourself.
3) And do it right today.
;o)
when you fall off the wagon so to speak...i call it a "mixed bag". allowed me NOT to write off an entire day but get back on track with the next thing I put into my mouth.
Also allowed me not to deprive or endulge myself. Both extremes that don't feel good to me. It gave me more balance.
Mental stuff is always harder to overcome than the physical.
Good advice from Dixie. Recognize, forgive, repeat....
Maybe try to figure out why you had such a bad day and turned to food to begin with would also help.
I work really hard at being good every day, and I rarely stray from good eating habits, so I guess it's good to fall (jump) off the wagon once in a while to get start things going again.
I am taking Lu's advice and checking out beans. Last night I bought a bunch of different types and am going to check them all out, black beans have a lot of protein, I was surprised to see how much, and they're so yummy.
so now I had a day yesterday, and I ate chips, and a 1/4 cup of raisins with chocochips in them.
I have realised that it actually was a day that I had alone with hubby and we fell into a routine! I really wasnt mad, sad, or upset,(i found the ignore button finally yesterday) I was happy and that blew me away. I do eat when happy!!! never thought that.
very important for me to have permission to have what I want. With the twist of mindfulness and an underlying realisation I want to be healthy and intouch with my body. I find I don't really binge. Literally a few handfuls of chips and the small amount of chocolate, isn't going to hurt me. But in the old days that would have ended any healthy eating, including vitamin taking and water drinking. mmmmm we are so mean to ourselves.

Glad you are back on track too kimcri!

I was really craving cookies the other day.
I bought them. They are still sitting unopened on top of my frig. (I keep all my "snacks" in plain and open view and toss them after a week whether opened, eaten or not).
I was also a zoner-outer when I was overeating.
Now that I pay attention and eat less I am satisfied by a taste. Sometimes just buying it and knowing I have it if I want it. Sometimes I don't eat it and most times I throw it away.
Just a different experience.

I love that you "outted" yourself about the not so perfect day.
At times I have been really mad about this but.. you have to eat.. I need to deal with food choices every day, multiple times per day.I am not going to get it right all the time, but if I hit 80% I'd be pretty happy
I could go on and on. :)
GabbyLisa, can you post the recipe? It sounds yummy! I don't know much about cooking beans yet, so it's canned for me right now.. I'd love to get some ideas though.
Thanks!

Well intentioned people in my life have been bringing me pre-valentines hearts full of chocolates and sadly I ate most of a small one last night.
That 5 pounds that I flutuate is on again and it's hard not to be angry with myself.
It seems that once I have a meal (my first is lunch because I have a shake for breakfast) it gets the ball rolling and I just want to eat.
I make sure it's good stuff but the thing is that I can't seem to have the lunch and thats it. I seem to want to pick up little low cal things (which is technically called grazing I believe)
Well to day is another day and I have a brand new chance to pull it all together.
Thanks for posting this Krista.
I am happy to see posts where everything is notalways perfect.
It makes me feel like we are able to speak openly and that we are all fighting the same battle.
So glad you are getting back on that "horse" to ride.
You are an inspiration! Thanks Krista
good luck.
Thank you for sharing this. Like you I also journal and I write down every bite, morsel, nook and crannie...lol I love your discussion topic b/c who else can we hold accountable if we don't take responsibility?
The only thing that is out of "harms way" for me is sweets. I dump hardcore and that is something that I do not wish on my worst enemy (who happens to be on this site...LMAO) Just kidding!
I do find that the more I deprive myself the more I want it and the more frustrating this process is. I have learned that there really isn't a program to get back on to b/c this is a lifestyle change that requires making necessary changes to fully make this work. It is not like your exhibiting this behavior everyday (although it is important to monitor yourself so that you do not slip in to bad habits) it is ok to enjoy life and food (in moderation of course). It is about calories in and what you burn. Im not saying you can eat whatever you want if you exercise but given a little discipline it is ok to enjoy the things that you want.
Love ya' chica.
