I was told no more alcohol ever as it effects you differently and its not good on your new stomach.

I'm 12 weeks out and haven't had a drink yet. I'm afraid. I've heard that it affects us WLS people differently, a little goes a long way. So maybe holiday time I'll try a sip of wine. I have been told by my nut to ask them before I do take a drink.

I was about 5 months out and one shot knocked me on my A$$. However I have always been a light weight. haha.
The alcohol will absorb into your system VERY fast and it does not take much to get you tipsy. I have a friend that also had this surgery and she was a heavy drinker (not alcoholic but almost every weekend kind of drinker). She also experienced getting a quick buzz. She and I joke about being cheap drunks now... haha....
I will tell you that it burned when I drank so it's not so fun for me. I tried again a few weeks ago and it still burned. No big loss for me...
Have fun experimenting, just do it at home first for sure.

Just as an aside to what others have said, be wary of cross addiction. For many of us, the issues that got us to weightloss surgery can be the very same issues that other addictions are made of. I put baileys in coffee ir was ok but then i decide To put it in sonic ice And drink it not good

I am a little over 3months out.... Had my first drink Saturday, it was completely different...got a quick buzz, but it did not taste the same. I'm very weary of the calories so going forward no sweet drinks for me, I,ll have ciroc berry on the rocks :). We are all different so you,ll have to experiment however,it probably won't ever be the same

Physician told me one could do me in and a couple or several can even produce fatal events. Your body doesnt absorb and alcohol poisioning is very easy to get. I don't need the calories and I don;t need it to be social.

First drink was a few days ago. I few sips and I could feel it o_O didn't even finish the small glass I had.

I had some cough meds for this cold the night before last.....1 tsp and I slept like the dead!. I think I would be very careful and check with the doc or nut before i tried any actual alcohol....

My Dr said that if you do drink that it will be a fast affective drink so becareful not to have shots or drink fast when you have your first drink. There are people who say they can hold their liquor and have quite a bit of drinks but after surgery they barely need to drink and can feel it

My first was a small glass of wine at about 6 months. It affected me exactly the same way as it did before.

Now I have a single glass about once a week when out with my bf.

I budget my calories and carbs when I know we are going out.

It hasn't been a problem for me.

I am not a big drinker, maybe 1 or 2 every other weekend. I will have a hot choc and Baileys, cuz i love me some baileys !!! But it does burn a little, funny thing IF i have a white russian, ( I think ive had 2 in 9 months) it does NOT burn. One time i put some cap morgan in my orange crystal light. You do feel it quick but it kinda goes away quick. Hard liq doesnt have carbs...... But i never get wasted, i just dont like that... so i cant report on a drinking binge. BABBAHAHABBAHH lLOL !!!!!

I was told no alchohol for a year. But it appears I may have been the only one told that. LOL

I was told never to have it again after surgery. At my three month check up a couple days ago they asked me No alcholic drinks? No caffine? No smoking? These are three no no's for my bariatric group. You had to not do any of these before surgery and never again after wards surgery. I have never really drank much really to me it isn't a big deal. Check with your program or surgeon cause they all are different. I don't want to mess up my gut after going through all this though.
