There is usually a dynamic when someone chooses to have a relationship with an obese person, and those dynamics definitely change.

Some relationships survive it, but some do not. There is a good bit of literature available in recovery journals...

I can't say my personality has changed, but with increased confidence, the real me is coming forward. I am more outgoing and somewhat outspoken than before. My secretary says I am bossier!

I would say you're always the same person on the inside. Indeed some things will change as far as what you can do physically, which, as priscilla said, leads to confidence and happiness. But even as I've lost the weight, I've always known I'm the same person on the inside... That's just the way it is...

I'm only 2 months out but I don't think your personality changes. I think what changes is your confidence level which allows you to be more outgoing. My husband has told me many times how nice it is to see the sparkle back in my eyes and how much happier I seem to be. I'm sure your girlfriend will be very happy with whatever "change" you may have. Hi Mike-I don't think I have changed. Who I am is who I am.. When I lost 170lbs 10 years ago, my husband says I was still the same person he knew but lighter. Can you be the same man to your girlfriend afterwards? That will be up to you. If she is secure with you now and you are the same personality as you are now, she won't or shouldn't feel threatened by the new you. Can she compete with other girls who may vie for your attention. If you can maintain a level head and not get carried away with yourself, I think the relationship can survive.Don't get me wrong- you can be proud of yourself and don't hold yourself back from a chance to be healthier. She mustn't play those head games- You need her to support your efforts in this all the way Mike.You are going to look even better for her.Will she be able to handle the supprt you need soon.? You need a clear head going into this and not be woried how this affects someone else. If she loves you she will be there through "Thick N Thin."

Well of course it changes, I was 320 + at the begining with a 1 " inverted dick and now it's as big as it's ever been in my life. Seriously!

Don't get knotted up on the psych stuff just know what ever problems you had before surgery will be way less post surgery!
