In my last post i asked if anyone has had colitis post surgery, i finally got in to see the gastrointolgist and he tells me that maybe he didnt catch this 5 years ago when i first came to him and that if he had he would not have suggested the ryn, because it can cause chrons and colitis to worsen. ive been in hoirrible pain for three weeks now, unable to exercise much less get out of bed to clean and cook. He scheduled me for a colonoscopy to see how bad it is and also some samples to test for other things but i still have no answers about how to relieve the pain. he tells me to just take it easy and i shouldnt be exercising to much with the bleeding. so here i am miserable and now im worried ill gain weight because i cant exercise. I have gained yet but i havent lost either. :( thanks for letting me rant! I dont have anyone i can talk to about the pain and frustrations and its starting to get to me.

Oh hon that sounds miserable! Hang in there, I know a few people with colitis and it can be treated and manageable with the right help! Just gotta be patient and wait for all the tests to confirm the right diagnosis. It's ashame though they didn't offer any comfort or suggestions for you till they get the answers! You can do this! Try and stay positive, it will help! Stress can make symptoms worse!

Thanks toukybear72 I'm trying to stay positive and not stress. The pain is the worse part and no medicines help I've tried vicodin, tylenol3, muscle relaxer for tummy but I'll just keep my heating pad on and wait it out

I am so sorry you're having these problems, but it sounds like you've got a plan in place. Hang in there until you get all the info back. Don't worry about the weight, if you gain anything now, you have the knowledge and tools to loose it later. It will all work itself out. Just remember, protein, water and walk if possible... You will be in my prayers...

I hope you feel better soon. I'm having a pre op colonoscopy on Thursday. They're looking for Celiac disease.

Research gluten free diet and its affect on chrons and colitis as well as other intestinal issues. If you are truely allergic very small amounts can trigger attacks. It is very interesting to read and realize how many symptoms pertain. And believe me you, I am one of the most stubborn people when it comes to these new "fashion" illness things, but I can tell and huge difference when I am GF and when I cheat just a little.

Goldenrivers is so right.away son has Celiac and cannot eat gluten. If he slips it is obvious right away. Even people who are gluten sensitive can tell a big difference when they cut gluten out of their diets. It is so much easier now to cut gluten as even mainstream grocery stores have a large selection of gluten free foods pre-made and many companies have jumped on the bandwagon. If you know what to look for and what to avoid you can do it. Take a look...great suggestion.
