I'm glad to say this weekend was gamble free!!
If '85 was the year you were born, I was born in '84. I know how hard it can be to go out and unwind and socialize without drinking much.
Some tips for next time:
1.) Drink one glass of water or Diet Coke for every glass of alcohol.
2.) Get your water with fruit in it, so it doesn't look like water.
3.) Eat dinner before you go. You get drunk less easily and are less likely to overindulge.
4.) Chew gum. You wouldn't believe how much this helps.
5.) Have mints ready. Ditto.
If drinking with your friends is what triggers you or drinking in general, maybe you need to look at finding social activities to meet new friends that don't drink.
Or maybe find a cause you care about to volunteer for on Friday evenings - something to do with the time AND a chance to meet new friends with common interest in the cause, whatever it is.
Maybe find a GA or even AA group to go to on Fridays. It is worth doing whatever it takes to get away from this insidious addiction.
