I self-banned on June 24, 2015. I thought it would all be so simple and easy. Just went in, turned my name in, and that was that.
Except it wasn't. It took a period of withdrawal -- insomnia, night sweats, headaches, moodiness, and a summertime cold for me to realize this was a deeper issue. I've been in therapy, using this forum religiously, and reading everything I can about addiction.
Congrats on making the biggest step forward. That's huge. Had I not self-banned, I would've gone back so many times by now. But know in case the road ahead is bumpy for you as it was for me, we are all here for you!
I know what a good feeling I had when I Banned myself. It was as if chains had fallen off.
Last year I said out loud to myself, "I don't trust me." I might as well have been hit in the gut. How did I go from trusting myself more then anyone to now having no faith in me? It was called lying and gambling. What ugly words that came with heavy chains.
Banning is a way to get rid of those chains and start living again.
You will love not having the weight of shame on you.
Hugs.
I had to take an attitude of gambling was everywhere but I was allergic to it. It will make me sick if I gamble - I know it my heart. I have recovered far too much to go down that rabbit hole again.
Life is better without gambling - you will not regret this decision.
