Food Addiction Support Group
An individual suffering from a food addiction disorder frequently experiences episodes of uncontrolled eating, or binging, during which they may feel frenzied or out of control. They will eat much more quickly than is normal, and continue to eat even past the point of being uncomfortably full. Binging in this way is generally followed by a period of intense guilt feelings...

What, you're thinking??? How can skittles HELP a diet? Ok, here's the thing. I've realized that I use food to console myself, and give myself a treat after a stressfull day (which is every day, for me). When I deprive myself of that treat, I binge.
So, for the past 3 weeks, I have been REPLACING, not ELIMINATING my treats.
For example, usually, I'd want to binge, and eat a lot of candy, chocolate, and cheesy rich food. So, instead, I eat skittles. Yes, skittles.
Here's why: lets say I binge on 3 chocolate bars. That's like around 800 calories. And I can eat them fast! Let's face it, it's easy to gobble down a chocolate bar.
But skittles are only 160 calories for 1/4 cup. And they're really chewy, so they take a long time to eat. Because it takes me a long time to chew them all, I feel like I've had a treat. If I were to have a chocolate bar, I'd be done it in 1 minutes, and would have had a LOT more calories.
Other things that work well are hard candies of any kind - Werthers, Scotch mints, etc. They're around 15 calories each, yet if you don't crunch them, they take a LONG time to eat.
I know, this probably sounds crazy. But it's working. I allow myself 1 treat a day. So far, in 3 weeks, eating around 1500 calories a day, I've lost 5 pounds.
Sigh. I still have so much to loose! But at least I am making a good start. It's just that I get frustrated, because I have lost the SAME 35 pounds over and over again! I diet, I get thinner, I start to binge, I gain all the weight back, I diet again!!! I swear, this time, when I loose the weight, I am going to keep it off! This constant dieting is NO FUN.

But it's weird because my partner of many years is a recovered alcoholic. And he does not drink at all now. We both know that once he starts, he can not stop - for example, he had a slip a several months ago, because he had one drink. But, being an alcoholic, he could literally not stop at one drink. He has done very well with something really difficult, and that was his first slip in around a year, I think.
So what I don't understand is how come he can never, ever drink, not even 1 drink, and yet when I eleminate my addiction (sugar) the way he's eliminated his, it doesn't work for me at all???
I've been thinking about jello and cool whip! I haven't made jello since I was a kid, but it seems to me there can't be too many calories in jello. I don't want the sugar-free kind...I'm convinced those fake sweetners are terrible for you. I'd rather have real sugar, better health, and a few extra calories. :-)
The other thing that works for me (but they don't sell them anymore!!!) are these President's Choice Blue Menu One-bite Brownies. They were so good! Can't remember the calories, but not that many....way less then normal one-bite brownies. The Blue Menu Line has a lot of good, healtheir stuff in it.
I think 2 brownies were all of 150 calories. But I haven't not seen it at Extra Foods since last summer! I don't think they make it now...or else they just stopped carrying it at my location, maybe.
