What is y'all's opinion of personal training? Is it really worth it/helpful?
What are some good and bad experience you have had with personal training?
In high school I used to go to this great little private gym and the owner was super nice and helpful. The trainers there were older but in sick shape, they would grade your food journals, they were super observant. The gym was organized well. Then it closed because he moved away.
I don't like large commercial gyms. So the gym I go to now is also a small private gym, the owner is great, but she seems to have trouble keeping trainers. There is only one I know of and I don't dislike her as a person, but she is not a good teacher or trainer. I don't want to pay her when I hear her say things all the time that aren't true and don't make sense. She is also very fat. No way do I want someone who is over weight and not in good enough shape to keep up with class to tell me what to do.
My membership is up in May. I think I'm going to look for a new gym or just workout at home. Starting to worry all personal trainers suck. Not to mention expensive. I honestly think I would rather start going to a martial arts type gym instead. Will have to look around.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

When I was married, my happiest times were when I went to the gym with my wife because it was something we both gave a high priority to. ...When our membership was over, she looked great and was not afraid to wear a bikini at the beach and others were shocked by how great she looked. I think I mentioned this before but she had these glamore photos taken that were professionally done where you go to a hairdresser and they give you a style that makes you look like a movie star and then they dress you in this sensual looking clothing that makes men drool lol! It was funny but I worked in a shop with 40 other men and at the time I showed a bunch of the wallet sized photos to the other guys I worked with and word got around and all the other guys gradually worked their way over to my work area and asked to see those photos! I'll tell ya, it was a very proud moment for me to see so much interest in the way my wife looked. I would have loved her no matter but her going out of her way to look that good was a very special moment in my life. I never forgot it!
The first gym I went to was a Champions and the trainers were all female yet very knowledgeable and very helpful. I don't think I would be willing to pay for the trainer every time I came but having them that first time was very helpful. The trainer we have at our little gym in town is run by a lady who works part time in a doctors office. She is also the trainer and runs the airobic classes. She was also pretty good but not as thorough as the one at Champions.
Good luck with that and I hope you achieve your goals whatever they might be.
