Something upsetting happened to me the other day when I was browsing online for athletic gear. I really don't mean this post to be a hater post and I hope no on takes it that way, but I would like to talk about this issue.
So let me ask, does your gym have a dress code? Most gyms do, and you would do well to be informed about it. My gym actually sells clothes in case someone comes in inappropriately. Sometimes it's just an unspoken thing, but most gyms have dress codes and I think they should.
Obviously if you are working out on equipment, you don't want to use the equipment after some sweaty half naked person, even if they wiped it off. No one should be working out with no shirt, or shorts with their butt cheeks hanging out. That's how germs and diseases get spread. That goes for both men and women. Also a bra is not a shirt, and violates most dress codes.
I honestly don't see anything wrong or uncomfortable about wearing workout pants or decent length shorts with a tank or tee. And tanks and tees are cheap. But lately as I have been needing some warmer gear for fall and winter, I am having problems finding women's athletic clothing that is appropriate and comfortable.
It seems to be the style to wear extremely tight, vulgar bottoms with a bra or crop top, even for overweight women. I never see people at my gym like that, nor do I see men in just leggings, they always have loose shorts over the leggings to cover their junk, and at least a cut off the so they aren't shirtless. It's just common decency to respect other gym goers and the equipment. If you want to workout naked, work out at home or in a class specific for that, like nude yoga.
Anyway, I was shopping online and noticed that many so called women's workout gear sites only sell leggings. I found a few with crop tops, no normal length tops. So I went to YouTube and typed in " women's gym clothes reviews." What came up was a bunch of very fake looking women trying on tight pants and bending over in front of a mirror. After watching for a few minutes I was disgusted.
I went back to searching athletic wear sites. I went to one that sold men's clothes. I browsed thru shirts and didn't see anything I liked so I clicked on the link to the women's clothes page. Now let me just say, the men's page looked totally normal, just some average build guys wearing t-shirts and long sleeve compression shirts, not any roid rage muscle bound guys or pics of them flexing, no pics of them in leggings showing their junk, just a regular guy in shorts and a t-shirt smiling.
Guess what was on the women's page? An ass! A great big gross fake ass bent over standing on top toe. It was almost pornographic! And the whole section was more of the same, no faces, no shirts, no women playing sports, just vulgar ass pics very nearly flashing butthole. Apparently they now have "scrunch butt" leggings that go up your ass like a thong so you don't have to wear underwear.
I am just so upset and grossed out you guys. Laugh if you want, there is a problem here. I feel like I must be the only woman in the world who doesn't like chafing and getting yeast infections if this garbage is really what other women are buying to go to the gym.
I'm all for feeling great about oneself and more empowered, but I think there is a line that has been crossed into vulgarity and degredation. You don't have to look like a porn star with implants to feel healthy and good about yourself. You don't have to wear things that don't provide more than a thin layer between someone else's butt sweat and your snatch.
I'm really sorry if this post makes anyone mad or uncomfortable, I just really had to get this off my chest because it's bothering me. I feel like men and women think women are stupid and vain. I don't want people to think that about me because I go to the gym. Looking good isn't what motivates me to go to the gym. I don't go because I obsess over how my ass looks, etc. I go because it's life or death. I go because it feels good. I go because I like to see myself achieve goals and beat my bad genetics. I like feeling strong. I don't go to the gym to get hit on or get laid, and you shouldn't either. It gives us all a bad rapp.
Please follow you gym's dress code and etiquette guidelines, i.e. use a towel, don't sit on a machine and text for an hour, don't blast your tunes, etc. Be respectful.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I honestly can't remember if I saw anyone dress inappropriately as I was more focused on what I was there for, but I think I may have seen some of the kids in sports bras. It's common to see girls wear those as outerwear up here, in the summer when it is hot.
I remember my first day at the gym, I had the trainer tell me everything I needed to know about how to use the machines and about the gym rules and I didn't hear anything about a dress code except that we were required to wear sneakers at all times and to leave them there at the gym. The reason for that is because in the winter, the parking lot is sanded so it won't be slippery. They don't want people falling and getting hurt, and they don't want members tracking in dirt on their rug so I can understand.
I wear what is comfortable for me which is a tee shirt, thin nylon running shorts and sneakers and stockings. That is all I wear.
It's a small building which use to be a breakfast diner that had the best raisin toast I ever ate! I miss that place but I like the gym so it's ok. The only thing I don't like is that there are no showers there so I have to wait until I get home.
But as far as what others wear, whatever makes them comfortable. I have no opinion on it.
I usually leave my cell phone in my car on play with an audiobook pre loaded on it and I wear my bluetooth headphones while I am on the treadmill. Having my brain engaged while jogging makes the time fly.

Or buy guys clothes. Unisex clothes are in style.
It still bothers me tho. I wonder what other women shopping and trying to get healthy think. I should bring this up with some of the women in my gym classes and see what they think and if they struggle.
