When I was in high school, I took Sports Medicine, and we were to test our BMI. I cannot remember the number, but it stated that I was at the point of being overweight. This annoyed me. Ever since I was 6, I had done some sort of sport and I couldn't understand that I was overweight.
I am 170 cm (5,7"). I talked to my friend who was in that class and we tried to understand it. I actually haven't really looked into it, but I have big bones from both my parents (Danish ancestry) and big thigh muscles from figure skating. Muscle weighs more than fat, so why is it that professionals and us ordinary people look at the BMI to determine if we are fit etc? How has such an inaccurate measurement test become so widespread? Everytime I hear people talking about BMI I feel a bit angry, maybe because I know I will probably never be under the "fit" heading no matter what changes I make to my life style.
Does anyone else feel this way? Or no? Why or why not?

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I'm large boned and large muscle so I ignore BMI. Doesn't even apply to me.
So stay fit and healthy and don't let it bother you.
