Well 2nd year in a row the news says no increase in inflation so no increase ins SS payments. Where the hell do they get their info $3 milk $3 gas $7 smokes my costs are inflated. But with no "inflation" no raise in SS incomes. For me means no raise in my VA benefits either.
Getting by on the same amount and paying more we tighten our belts and the feds spend record amounts on stimulus and deficit, it just doesn't seem fair.

I know how you feel I have a few friends and relatives on SS and I agree its terrible that their is no increase until the year 2012 if then. ;(
The only way they seem to get buy is by trying to live more green/eco-friendly and getting money/deposits for what they can recycle. It not much of course but they put what little the can aside into savings, in the gas tank or as a special treat like the movies or eating out just to escape a bit

It seems many of us are in a similar situation. I'm employed, but have not seen a raise since 2008. We were just told a couple of weeks ago that there won't be raises this year either.
This could be the reason the government can't give SS raises...if the workforce salary is staying the same, the government isn't collecting more SS tax from taxpayers. They can't pay out money they aren't collecting.

As insurance rates go up, interest rates on credit cards goe up, food costs go up but the salary stays the same.
Digging deeper into the hole each year...
