I think it's time for me to go to the food shelf.

Best wishes to you & yours during these hard times.
One of my family members is doing well w/ a company called Dart.
Wish that there were some answers here. Until then, the high cost of fuel is costing everyone. It costs more to get those products to the stores and the cost is being passed on to the consumer. We're not only paying more for the fuel, we're paying at the stores too.

Perhaps by investigating other modes or means of transportation will prove beneficial not merely for the short-term.
At the risk of endangering my life at the inept hands of 4-wheeled vehicle motorists I will likely purchase and drive a motorcycle out of economic necessity and need.
Mass transit, car-pooling, biking, and other solutions are yet viable though they would require a significant paradigm shift in transportation as well as mindset by commuters.

Speculators are buying based on the knowledge that americans will keep buying gas no matter what the price. If they knew that we were drilling for american oil, the speculators would be less willing to bid up the price.
I really feel for you guys that are truckers. I can only hope that since so many indies and small companies are going out of business, that you guys that survive will be on the positive side of the competition - as in shippers will be competing for truckers and your prices will be able to rise.
In the meantime I know some truckers are parking their trucks and taking other jobs - you can't transport a load for less that it costs you to do it. It's just not right.
my prayers are with you.

I think it would be wise for you to do a little research on what speculators do and don't do. I am no expert but been reading up on this as of lately because so many people ask me about it. The market will not sustain this price, it comes back to consumption, if we don't change our habits it will continue to drive the price up. Report just out this morning is there could be some shortages. And it's not all about driving either. Roughly only HALF of a barrel of oil goes for gasoline and diesel.
People really need to educate themselves, we need to be drilling in the US more and we need to stop putting up so damn many ethanol plants and build a few new refineries.
