Bluesun is right, we need to be there for ourselves.
Have a nice day!
Then my daughter got sick and 2 years later I was sick. With both of us, the doctors said it was stress and that was that.
That's when I got angry and with my daughter, I just started taking her to different dr. 2 years ago she was dx with Transverse Myelitis which is a rare spinal cord disease that is similar to MS. Then 2 years later (a couple weeks ago) I was dx with fibromyalgia, low vitamin D and Hashimoto's disease. All these serious things for both of us and the drs. want to just write us off as stressed out. Makes me so mad. Now I ask a hundred questions and I know it drives all my doctors crazy but I don't care. Plus, I research everything online too and probably know more than them anyways.
I get so frustrated with this, but what can we do. We are the ones that live in our body, and see what is going on, day in and day out.
Thanks for the reminder.
Gentle hugs,Sherrall
take care gentle hugs
so the next doc can read! & take all my script instructions from the pharcey w/ dates & refills ect! so i don't forget anything have a folder just for doc visits date time & next visit!
so they don't ? what i'm telling them! or ? that i'm drug seeking!
but i do have a advocate that i was asigned & do takehem w/me on ea visit! seem like docs are ready to listen to me instead of blow ,e off! as oh it just FIBRO no cure or treatment!
Good post! HUGS from down south :)
Not all docs are uncaring and I believe mine has Fibro/chronic pain which makes him more understanding and compassionate.
I'd take it a step further and outline fibro-suggestions for implementing self-advocacy. Super anal record-keeping is one way to fortify your position.
When I go to the doctor, I write down all the questions I have in the days before the appt. and then pick the most important ones and take that to the doctor. I keep a list of all surgeries, accidents, illness, drugs, weight, etc... on my computer and update it often.
I get a copy of all diagnostic tests my doctor orders. I write event reports (Dr. visits, phone calls, train wrecks, etc...) and add them to the file.
I've fired a lot of doctors. How about you?
I asked one doctor about blood test and was told my insurance wouldn't pay for them then ask if they knew a doctor that dealt with infectious diease and they said no. It took me a few days before I got really pissed off and called the hospital for their doctors referal line called and got the name of a doctor that deals with infectious diasese called that doctor and got an appointment then called my doctor back and said I needed a referal to see this doctor and told them when my appointment was and they did the referal. Not sure how things are going to go but at least I feel like I'm doing what I need to do to get well.
i got something similar to that bcuz i can't remember crap. i keep everything written down and like you, questions lined out and written down a few days before even gettin to the doc.
Mary, good for you for stickin it to em!
