In 1931, major league baseball saw a record when St Louis and Chicago combined for most doubles in a game, with combined total of 23. That record, btw, still stands. For the non-sporting sorts, or non-US, a double is a hit that goes well enough for someone to get to 2nd base, hence "double". First base is a single, third a triple, and of course if you can get all the way around the bases, home run or "homer".
Today in 1960, manufacturing began on the now-iconic toy... THe Etch-a-Sketch! It's a drawing tool that means you can only make lines going vertically or horizontally, using two little knobs, and some people perfect their talents to this point: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Etch_A_Sketch#/media/File:Taj_Mahal_drawing_on_an_Etch-A-Sketch.jpg
I'll note you can get a diagonal line, but I never had the knack for turning both knobs exactly right to do it. Also, your lines are continguous. You can't stop, and start over at a new point. Whatever you draw? Yeah. Basically it's all one line.

OK, sorry, I have to bail, we're apparently going to lose power in a few minutes b/c of repairs needed. Shoot, nice of them to tell us.
BLessings!

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...

... observed a solar eclipse.

I'm helping daughter set up her garage sale today. Ugh. It's going to be so hot in the garage. We are going to work early, then late, to avoid the heat as much as possible.
Loved my new therapist. She is a keeper, and has great plans for help for me. She gave me hope.
Take care guys.
Just caught a cat in the bird bath, lyin gin the water like, "Yeah, so?" *sigh* Well, the tortoises would like a drink, too, so I have to fill the butterfly-tortoise-bee bath. You get one of those ceramic under-pot things for the 18-inch pots, fill with clean play sand halfway, keep it mounded high on one side, and fill it up. Then the big sand side has a skin of water on it that bees and butterflies can safely drink, and it's low enough for tortoises on the other side. Yes, I am weird. You knew that, tho'!
Ida-I'm glad the therapist is a good fit, and especially that it's giving you hope, you deserve it. I hope the garage work isn't too painful
We were so busy at work yesterday and I think I might cry if it's like that today. I'm flaring and someone called in sick so I'll be alone this afternoon. I just need today to be easy. Had more nightmares last night and my anxiety is pretty bad today
Ida I am so happy that your new therapist is a good one. I have worried about you and have prayed every day that you would find someone that could help you get through. Please take breaks today and drink lots of water.
Miki I hope that today isn't as bad as yesterday was. It sounds like you are being tested. I understand the working and flaring thing. I am sorry you had nightmares again last night. Hugs and gentle prayers for the anxiety.
I am exhausted. It took 3 hours last night after Luna and I went to bed to get her to lay down and stop trying to get me to play. Then at 4 this morning she climbed up and lay down on my chest licking my face. I can't wait till I get the new bed this one is too small for me and furry critters.
Leo, I loved defying etcha sketches abilities. I still do when ever I get my hands on them. Here...if you can find any kind of power....this is a neat little video on what is inside an etcha sketch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIoj5W9yFaE
Ida, Oh I am so happy you found a great therapist. After yesterday's head mess and hearing of you finding a good doc, I'm tempted to start a search of my own. I know they are out there. And I've been living this way too long now.
Wishing you the best with the garage sale (for your daughter) and the prep work.
I did one once and had a bad experience. I was the only one here, had Andypants as an infant in the pack-n-play behind me and Lexi next to us. Some guy comes barreling into our driveway with his music blaring. Smoke rolling out of his car like a cheech and chong movie and walks around. Find my husbters music gear and proceeds to try and crank it up as he was testing it out. Lexi was going ballistic (she was a good judge of character) and I have Andrew in my arms. I'm telling the guy he needs to turn it down, and every time I turn my back he'd crank it up again. I told him 2-3 times he needs to come back when my husband was around to test these out. He finally left. But with some nasty glares that send chills down your back.
Never again will I do a garage sale, especially on my own. I opt to donate and write things off.
Miki, I'm so sorry to hear work is rough right now. It didn't take much to bring me to tears yesterday. Praying your nightmares ease up for you so you can get rest.
Another day in paradise here. Heat/humidity...blech! But no plans for anything as I try to recover still, body is feeling human again, but emotionally, it kinda takes a while now to recover living with this dumb anxiety.
Yesterday didn't help much, as I was pressured when Andypants tutor came. Couldn't get his laptop to work, which stored his work, trying to message hubby for help, pup going apenuts and Beans screaming in the back, my sciatic nerve pinging in pain and my bladder was about to start leaking if I didn't find my way in soon.
I threw in the towel after our tutor left. I was nearly in tears from the chaos, which is honestly just a typical day around here. But coming off of the weekend stress, it was just a perfect mix for a mental shutdown.
But the highlight of my day yesterday? Our resident Hawk landed on our railing going down our steps. The closest it's been. I didn't grab the camera in enough time though. I am in love watching these creatures this year. 3 yrs ago we had the front yard full of ducks, then last year we had the geese and their babies (where the babies were feeding from my hands) and now this year we have the Hawks so up close and personal. They just make the world and my problems melt away. I love it.
Anyways, I hope everyone has a great day today. Wishing you all the very best.
Hope your hands/elbows start to feel better soon. Could it be something in your neck that is causing the pain?
ida, that hope is imperative. I'm so glad you like the new therapist. I pray today goes good, and you don't drop after this.
Miki, it's ok to cry. I did my fair share yesterday and I have every morning on my way to work. I hope today goes much better than yesterday despite you being alone this afternoon. Good luck.
Autumn, it sounds like you barely got any sleep. I'm sorry you had such an early morning wake-up call. You sound much nicer about it than I am. Blessings and joy on your day.
Wonder, I'm with you, garage sales are too much work, and I enjoy giving the stuff away to people that need it. My neighbors hardly need to buy toys or clothes for their little girl. :-) Your day sounded very stressful yesterday. I'm glad it's over with, and you can focus on other things.
I can't handle much these days, so after my weekend I still feel so burnt out and overwhelmed. Addison wants to do crafts every night, and after a full day of work, then getting home to make dinner, fix lunch for next day, cleanup dishes, get clothes ready, shower.... it is so hard for me to want to do anything else. I wish I could get this anxiety to go away. I'm so burnt out from it all.
I hope everyone has a great day.
It is going to be very hot and humid here too. I have to throw the pump in the pool and take some water out. We have more storms coming today and tomorrow. The pool is too full now.
Woke up a lot last night. Have a bad headache and need more sleep. Later Peeps.
I've been on vacation this week with my in-laws and it's made me realize how much worse my pain is from last year. I can't go to the water park with everyone cause it's just too much walking, and there's no way I can do those stairs to the slides. I can't even make it down to the beach, and I love going to the beach.. it's so depressing.
I had to stop cymbalta unfortunately. On top of getting extremely nauseous when I took it, I started bruising really easily. My doctor called in a low dose of Amitryptyline for me, so I'm gonna pick that up once vacation is over.
The beds here are awful, you'd think that when you pay for a handicap accessible house the beds would be at least somewhat decent. Seriously, I can feel the springs in my bed...
At least the weather hasn't been too bad, low 80s and some humidity. I'm from Phoenix, AZ so this weather in NC is heavenly.
Hope y'all have a great day!
Leo-Yes, it’s hot. I’m in Charlotte, NC and it’s really hot here too. Thanks for explaining what a double and triple is. Never knew that. Also, I loved the Etch-A-Sketch. Can’t believe it’s only four years older than me. That’s great that the power came on so quick. That’s great that you provide water for all the critters.
Ida-so glad about the therapist. That’s really good that she has given you hope. That's so important. Keep cool today.
Miki-that’s awful that you’re feeling so bad and will be there alone this afternoon. I hope things go well for you today.
Autumn-I hope you get some rest today. I was in heaven when I got my new bed. I got a California King bed and it’s only me and the animals. I looked at a Queen and I knew it was just going to be too small. I have four cats and a dog and everyone has their space on the bed. It’s really nice, and very soft.
Wonder-What a horrible person. I don’t blame you for not wanting to do another yard sale. I hope your day today is better and you can get some rest. The Hawks right in your backyard sounds wonderful. You’re very lucky. We have an owl in our neighborhood and the closest he’s gotten is sitting on the end of the privacy fence which isn’t too far from my front picture window. My dog started barking at it, he turned his head around to look at her, and just slowly flew away. They’re huge and it was just so beautiful. I’ve also seen it swoop down over my backyard. It was so cool.
Twin, I remember when I was so sick with my daughter. There was no way I could do crafts with her. I felt so bad for her, but I just couldn’t. I’m on the other side of that and I know you’ll get through it too. It’s hard though when it’s just rough getting through the day.
Fantod-I hope the lasering helps anyway, even though it's horrible. Hope you get some rest today.
I’m doing okay today. I still have pain in my hips, but I iced my hips and knee yesterday so I’ll just have to keep doing that and going to the chiropractor. I should feel better soon. Just upset that I fell again. Otherwise, I’m still doing good on the Lyrica. I’m so glad I have more energy.
Hope everyone has a good day, gets rest and stays cool. Take care.

AngelaJo- I am really glad that you finally got some sleep. That should really help you feel better. Hang in there.
That is all!
Sorry it's so hot over there the kitties need to sit in the bird bath. Poor things. Glad your power is on.
The humidity has been a steady 82% here... it was a muggy night, rain off and on. We did make it out to the Venus pool yesterday and wow it was so beautiful. But you had to climb down a boulder to get in the beautiful crystal clear water (you could see the bottom of the pool) and as soon as we got to the water, a wall of rain hit us, ugh. I jumped in anyway.... at least for 5 mins. But when I needed to get out I was sliding around on the rocks and had a lot of trouble getting up. As soon as we got back to the truck, cleaned up (with a portable shower) and left, guess what?? The sun came back out. Of course. My husband asked if I wanted to go back, but it had taken all of my strength to get up on those rocks (my body was burning), I knew I didn't have it in me to do it again.
We're packing up this morning and leaving the hut. On our way out of Hana, we'll stop at a waterfall (I don't know if we'll go for a swim or not) and then hubby will show me another swimming hole he knows of (he went with a deaf group one time). I'll be ready to drop when I get home.
Once back home, I need to pick Silver up from the vet clinic. I haven't been able to get ahold of the vet, btw. We have no cell service so I have to drive into the tiny town if I want to make a call. But every time I do, I keep missing her. So far the vet techs are saying that he's been eating, but they've been feeding him a digestive care food and he refuses to eat the Rx diet (that the vets originally prescribed 2 yrs ago for his allergies). So their theory is that he may not actually be sick, but he doesn't like the food anymore and simply refused to eat it, even if he starved himself (therefore becoming sick). What a stubborn jerk! Anyway, they said I need to talk to the vet about a new diet plan for him.
Ida, super glad that your therapist worked out :)!
Well, I'm sitting outside fending off mosquitos! Better get back inside and I'll get to everyone's posts lol. AAAAAHHH! I just noticed another spider!!!
Blue, that's too bad that the rain kept you from that pool. It sounded wonderful. I hope you had a good time on your trip anyway. Good luck with your cat. I just saw on Dr. Pol last night a cat that wouldn't eat. They thought it was a urinary tract infection, then with not eating, his kidneys were failing. Once he got some antibiotics for the UTI, he started eating and his kidneys got better. I hope yours gets better soon.
