Just thought I'd share what I'd been doing lately....
A few months ago, at my regular checkup, my PCP did bloodwork as usual. What he said when he gave me the results really shocked me. He told me I was at high risk for a stroke!
I was so surprised for a few reasons.....1. I'm not THAT old, only 50 lol. 2. I wasn't THAT overweight, only 15-20 lbs or so...145 at 5'4". 3. My blood pressure was great...115/75.
So why the risk? My cholesterol!!! It was 225!!! And the bad LDL was 161. He started talking meds....the last thing I wanted was more meds :(
So I decided to try really cleaning up my diet, even more so,than I already had. I followed Eat to Live, and ate only whole, fresh veggies, fruits, and legumes....I went pretty strict, but its easy to adapt. Best part is I am never hungry :)
Long story short.....checkup again this week, after nine weeks of eating this way (I purposefully didn't exercise just to see how the food change alone would affect me)...... I lost 12 pounds in 9 weeks, and my LDL dropped from 161 to 127, and total cholesterol is down from 225 to 189!!!
I thought I ate clean before....I'm amazed at the difference now. Fatigue is much better. Just wanted to share If anyone was curious if you can really make a big change that quick!

Good day to all.So let me explain why we're discussing this today. The problem is, if your system gets too many (as in produces too many) it's a non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL) called Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia, and my husband was diagnosed in early 2018.Every monocloncal antibody or protein in your blood is essentially a blank, a slug, as they call coins that have been minted but not...

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...

I've heard how eating raw foods (veggies/ fruits) helps your body. And I can testify that I feel so much better when I eat my salads vs any other kind of foods.
Sadly, my body wants me to be a vegetarian ( no red meats unless I want a bellyache) And I go easy on the other meats.
I really am proud of you!!!!!
Thanks
Thanks again!
When I first tested high it was 276. I was like you - only a bit over my ideal weight. I started weight watchers, ate lean meat, fish, chicken, and fresh veggies. I walked a mile every day at lunch.
Six months later, down 25 lbs, lean and mean, I was rechecked.
It was all the way down to...wait for it...275.
I'm one of those "genetic" cases. I'm not eating it but my body over produces it anyway.
I would ALWAYS suggest that anyone make a sincere effort at diet and exercise before turning to meds. I wish it worked for me.
Peace, awwww girl....I know there are some folks where the genetics is too strong :(. I was kinda worried I'd be in that group too, as my moms side all have high cholesterol.
I decided to cut out red meat, chicken, dairy, sugar, all processed foods, eggs....I do have seafood once a week or so...couldn't give that up cuz we live in La! LOL.
I'm just interested to see how much I end up losing totally, and excited that I didn't have too add another pill right now....

I started experimenting with raw foods (fresh veggies and fruit) in '10 and lost like 30 lbs. I make fresh smoothies as often as possible and don't add any sugar, just raw honey, and noticed my energy levels really improving.
It's good stuff... once I got used to it, I would get a bit crazy if I didn't have one in a few days. lol
I also read the labels on every box, can and package.... did you know there are so many chemicals and fats we should never be eating that we consume on a daily basis? It's scary.
Anyways... you'd be amazed how much better you feel once you become a picky eater. LOL
Cutting processed foods and shopping local for everything possible has made a positive difference in my overall health and I've benefited tremendously. Not to mention fresh and homemade/homegrown tastes better.
Just because it didn't help my cholesterol doesn't mean it didn't help at all!
Yep, healthier eating always good. I live the whole diet you're on except I have to do dairy or my D and calcium go to pooo----I don't metabolize supps on those two things very well at all---but yeah, it's amazing how great it feels....
YEEEHAW!
