Hey everyone, I hope you're all winding down and relaxing after the holiday, if you celebrate. "What weekend?" is probably what I'm gonna be saying on Monday, because this weekend is looking crazy. I'm working this morning until noon, then playing with bfs kitten, going home to eat, walk Miki and vacuum, then going to my parents house to open birthday presents and go out to a Korean barbecue restaurant for dinner. I didn't really do anything on my actual birthday, no one was around and I really just wanted a break after Christmas eve and Christmas. It's supposed to be like 50 degrees and actually sunny today so I'm hoping to have some time to spend outside but not sure how that will work out. Tomorrow I need to run, then do things like laundry and food prep for the week, walk Miki, visit the kitten and I'm meeting my friend for dinner. So my goal this weekend is basically survival, especially since we have a lot of rain coming Monday. And my dad just called me...he knows I'm at work and that texting is easier here, and that I probably don't have time to have a conversation on the phone. This probably has to do with my headlights, which are still not working. I'm overwhelmed as it is and really don't want to deal with him, I know I'm going to get a lecture, especially since my car is due for inspection by the end of the month. I got a lecture about that on Thursday, but why bother inspecting it when the headlights don't work? Pretty sure it's not going to pass without that. Anyway, it's about time I get to work. Sorry this isn't the most exciting check in, my brain is both foggy and all over the place. But I will end with this cute picture of Nox, who I found just sitting like this

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Your risk of death or serious complications beyond "ow, that shot hurt!" are typically...

Sure hope your days improve.
Well - my home care nurse came yesterday & as usual she did not let me know she was coming. Guess what she had to put an unna boot on my left leg only & told me to stay off my feet over 50% of each day so back to my recliner I go - at least there will be a lot of football on for a couple of days. However I only have a desktop computer so I cannot spend too much time on it. You will never believe what happen while she was here - she had a severe back spasm & fell into my office desk chair - I thought I was going to have to work on her. Then only about 15 minutes after she recovered - worked on me & left another home health care nurse walked in so I told her that Charlotte had just been here - boy I just love how well they fail to communicate with each other here - same with everyone else here & it drives me nuts as I was a Business major in college & probably one of the most efficient people for keeping people in the loop.
At least I did get to take a shower last night. My best to all today. Bear!!!
Headlights are pretty important. I hope that gets sorted out and it is an easy fix.
Bear - Did you get your new recliner yet?
Well, I survived the first night with my CPAP without tearing the mask off. It is pretty annoying to be forced to breathe deeper and consistently. But necessary.... The unit woke me up transmitting data. I will have to see if the time can be changed so I am not woken up by a series of low beeps. Overall, it wasn’t too bad.
Not much on the agenda today. As usual, I have to prep dinner for pizza and salad, fold some laundry and a few simple chores. I might start cleaning out my closet or zip over to my helpers to deliver his Christmas present. I’ll see how my energy holds out.
My Mom got her new dryer yesterday. My brother is going to look at it later and get it installed. I have a feeling that it may get more involved than he would like. I’m sure the existing vent is completely clogged and the whole thing will have to be removed and a new one built. He will not be a happy camper.
As usual, my partner is out in the garage working on his car. Today, he is replacing the fuel injectors. He just brought one rail in to show me that the old ones which are toast. I just love it when the family room smells like petrol.... He has two engine mounts left to replace as well.
Another mild day here. We’ve had a pretty easy winter so far in Michigan. The storm that is coming across the country is not only huge but but pretty bad. Anyone that has to travel is in for a rough time.
Waves at everyone! I will try to check back later.
Miki...I'm feeling opposite you...underwhelmed. try to enjoy your company and not think too far out about your commitments. I remember those times. It helped me to focus on just the next thing and not my to do list. You could be stuck at home like me...lol.
I made it through Christmas alone but it was welcome because I've been busy working unexpectedly. I'm glad it's kept me from my month's long pity party. Sorry to those of you who have had to listen to me!
Where's Leo?hope she's okay.
Fantod, how did you survive ur busy Christmas? Glad you've had a mild winter so far and you have been able to get out and about. You certainly stay busy. Please let me know how cpap goes. I have nose inly masj and just can't tolerate it. I'm due for another sleep study and hoping they have made the new ones less cumbersome.
We've had fantastic weather in central Texas. It was 70 on Christmas. Got a dog walk in then realized....ooof...I injured my whole body. Neck and side and low back tweaked. Falling at a full sprint no bueno. So trying to hook up with new pain management. I'll run out of meds this week and I'm frightened of enduring this pain.
So I'm really glad it's the holidays. My Aunt reminded me to stop working and rest my hand...its the right one. I downloaded dragon software but I'm on my phone now which has auto fill. Any other suggestions? Turns out you use your favored hand in everything! Thank God for prime tv apps. And endless binge watching. I'm into to Sundance Now which has award winning shows. That's my excitement!!!
Msrn, hi! Ahhh another cook in the group. I made salmon last night. Never made duck. That's a tricky one. Good luck!
Sugar bear. Hey! I'd take 2 home caregivers. Omgosh didn't even think insurance would cover. Is that how you got them? But are you in Canada or Minnesota?
Ajoe...how's the roomie? I hope your pain level goes down. I find when I'm stressed it amps up. I bet you baked a lot of good cookies and pies for holiday;)
Shout out to twinmom Simpson Leo and bluesky. Hoping you are all doing good.
Xoxo, jp
JP Texas those 2 home health nurses just did not communicate with each other & as much as I tried to get the 2nd one to work on me too she would not do it & BTW they are both pretty blondes & I am a blonde man all the way. When I left the womb God asked me if I had any special requests & I said Yes Lord, I will take blondes. I do know this He answers prayers as every woman I have been involved with has been a blonde. My girl high school girlfriend - my ex wife - I married a PK & she left me - claims after 10 years & two kids she never loved me & the first girl I dated after my divorce - BTW that was almost 36 years ago I never remarried.
Also JP I live in North Carolina
Miki driving without sounds scary as hell. I hope you are able to get it fixed soon so you can get the inspection o er with. Also, the picture of Nox is super cute. The look on his face is priceless.
I'm sure I just missed the post, but is Leo okay? Just want to be sure. Thanks!
Bear I am glad we ha e some good foot all on for you over the next few days. Your nurse falling like is scary, she needs to be in shape to take care of you not the other way around. Keep your chin, and feet, up! :-)
Hey Fantod, I'm glad you are doing well. I can only imagine what it must be like trying to get used to a CPAP machine. I imagine I pro ably need one because Phhil has woken me on more than o e occassion not sure I was breathing. I need to deal with one thing at a time so for now it's the hole in my abdominal wall. I hope that your Mom's new dryer doesn't gi e your brother too many problems. In the winter having a dryer really makes life easier especially when you're older.
Angela I am so sorry your Mom is back in the hospital. I know she means a lot to you from what you have written. She will be in my prayers alo g with you and the family. Sending gentle hugs.
MrsN it's good to see you and it will be good to see you more in the new year. Cooking a whole duck sounds ambitious! Let us know how it turns out.
JP now might be a good time to have a Google home or something like that. You are in a pickle there and I feel so bad I don't have better advice. I hope pain management can get you in soon.
I did not realize someone would be here on DS doing check-in lol. I hung out with my aunt and uncle and cousin. We ate Korean for lunch and went to theater to watch Star Wars. It was nice and chairs reclined. I haven't been to the movies in over a year. Hubby came down sick and was up all night with congestion.
Angela still praying for you and your Mom. Hang in there and take good care of you right now. Comfy clothes, good foods a d warm tea and cocoa.
