Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
One thing I can put down right now is I raised four children,2 of my
own and 2 stepchildren plus many other kids that kinda just moved in. Having four teenagers in the house plus extras has to be some kind of an accomplishment LOL. and I will try and think of some more. hahahahaha
same to you, Mary! in the country i grew up in, there are many villages whoes kids dont go to school....cuz there are no schools. it's like that in so many countries. consider your self lucky!
Married at 20, and still married to him 26 yrs later...
Raised two beautiful daughters, who live successfully out on their own...
Went back to college and graduated magna cum laude at age 35....
Built and subcontracted three houses....
Subbed at elementary school for 8 yrs....
Now take care of family, including my mom and dad....
Nothing special, but it does feel good to remember that we DO accomplish alot in spite of the fibro.
Thanks for the post, bluesun, and HUGS from down south :)

- own a house

- won Pool Tournaments when I was in my 20's
All I've done is try to be a good friend, I guess. Helped a few friends way back when who were going through real clinical depression and were fighting the urge to kill themselves. Help several people a week find financial hope and free assistance resources to maintain roofs over their heads, meds and food. Volunteer my time on Freecycle to compile and give away free newborn and baby items like formula, diapers, etc. Help fellow co-workers with fibro to maintain their jobs on monthly basis, trying to be a mentor of sorts, I guess. Forward resources regularly to my friend Kristin so her mom and she (both very ill) can keep a roof, working toilet, food, etc. Pray daily for those I know who are particularly suffering. Do endless research I guess, lol. Do research for my elderly mother, aging aunt, ex-boyfriends cousin, so they can remain as pain free as possible. Research and prayer seems to be my recipe, lol.
I guess that's about it. Nothing earth shattering. Just dribbles here and there when I'm not managing pain.
And Mary80, I think you've done more than graduate high school. You are an awesome mom to 2 very loveable pets. Something that I have never had the patience or the discipline to be able to do. And you were, I'm sure, the best sister ever to a brother with epilepsy and one arm. Something, again, that I never could be so strong as to go through. You are one very amazing, strong woman.
Hugs to all!
Laura
Have 4 children, two grown, two teenagers
I have one grandson age 9 which I helped raise until age 6
Went to college and completed my Associates in 81, Paralegal Degree in 87 and my Bachelor's in 2007
I pastored a church for a year in addition to raising 5 children and working full time
Help take care of my elderly mom - my father passed away and I am an only child
Still work full time while suffering from fibro every day
As for being a good sister...*shrugs* I tried my best...but he still lost his fight. But there's little you can do outside of a medical degree to fight cancer I guess.
I guess I could add that I turned my brother's room into a memorial library. That's an accomplishment of a sort, right?
you all have done so much in your lives!!! super HIGH FIVE to all you !!!
XOXOX
HELPED RAISE 5 WONDERFUL GRANDCHILDREN
DROVE A BUS IN SAN FRANCISCO
HELP PEOPLE WHEN THEY ASK FOR IT.
Survived my parents divorce in the 50s when no one else we knew was divorced. Survived my demented evil stepfather until he sent me to live with my grandmother when I was 15.
Told the people at the unwed mothers' home to suck it every week when they tried to get me to sign adoption papers. Still not sure 43 years later whether that was a good decision but it did take some guts for a 15-year-old to stand up to them.
Survived (barely) losing my mother when she was 36 and I was 18.
Fast-forward - survived three unfortunate marriages and an abusive relationship after the third marriage, all while going to school part-time.
Graduated from community college in 1996, and from four-year college in 1998, then back for another round and graduated again in 2005. Won "Leadership, Scholarship, and Service" award for my graduating class.
Made a career in HR despite working for a total jerk who had no respect for the work I did.
Served two years on a music festival committee that raised 10k for local charities the last year we did it.
Helped start a formal third-party affiliate in my city and serve on the board.
Re-started my career after jerk fired me (after six years).
Rescued two beautiful loving dogs that are sleeping beside me on the bed even as I type this.
Took over a small fibro support group in 2007 that now has 168 members as of today.
Started a 501(c)(3) non-profit for fibromyalgia in 2009 - having our first big fund-raiser on 5/30 - a music festival with seven bands.
I think that's about it to date.

Became a Past up person, working for a major News Paper, in Toronto, putting the paper together, couldn't believe some one would pay me for cut and pasting stuff to a board. lol
Been married to second husband for over 23 years.
Got my Graduated Esthetician School.
Worked as an Esthetician for 14 years.
Gave a speech to over 450 people at a forum on Childhood Sexual abuse Survivors.
Graduated Medical Assistant/Phlebotomy school with honors.
Over came my fear to needles, actually gave needles to kids, which was the hardest thing I think I have done.
Still here, living one day at a time, with this awful thing we call Fibromyalgia.
Thanks and love this group and you all.
Gentle hugs, Sherrall
