Good morning. Sorry I'm late. Scouted out the school district well.
Yeah, I trespassed. So what? THey took our creek. The creek. From dozens of species.
Right now, the water is just gushing all over and greening up the sports fields. Hand to God, that's all it's doing. Feeding lawn sprinklers. WTH?! We get rain, cope with it! Oh, but they have to soak the *brand new sod* thrice daily or it looks brown. They got the kind of grass you usually see on golf courses. The grounds guy had no idea I didn't belong there, or didn't care, and told me all about how the school board decided they can't just have grass, nope, they need real fancy turf sod, and they had to dig out the old, lay down fertilizer and soil, b/c if you dig much here you hit bedrock, and the well water I was *told* was for fountains and sinks... Is watering grass.
Fancy. Expensive. Stupid. Grass.
Color me old and fussy, but green stuff I don't have to worry about is cheaper, right? Whereas this sod stuff... Drought-resistant? Nope. Cold-happy? Nope. Bounces back from damage? Not so easily. Oh, but it looks *fabulous*.
For this, they killed a creek. I love sports, but not that much. *seethe*
On th eplus side (and I had to fight to find one), the football team is in "camp" right now, and it's hot, so the sprinklers are awesome for *them*. Nice and cooling.

Meanwhile, my makeshift turtle pond (one tarp, some big rocks, sand, my back yard in a natural "dip") has another turtle. I have two now. And a tortoise. So far so good. The bluetail skink died (cat ate him, then threw him up). I'm calling the turtles Hey You. They're wild, not pets, after all. The tortoise is "Slowpoke".
Oh, and the bins of water we're leaving for the critters? We've no idea how, but a water snake ended up in one. We can't exactly kick him out. He's a *water* snake. We're trying to figure out how to sorta make a pond without anyone noticing so the turtles and snake have a place to live. We being me and three or four other Nature nuts. You should see us. Sunrise and here we are trooping along to empty, wipe clean, and refill bins and basins and kiddie pools of water along the treeline. Who, us? Just out for a nice walk with rags and enviro-safe cleaner and... uh... yeah, a nice walk. Water bills will be high, but we're chipping in for the person whose hose is filling all that stuff.

And that's all I got. In-laws tomorrow, Mom today, lumbar nerve issue acting up, sooo... Forward! Let your weekend go well! :-)

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...

... observed a solar eclipse.

Too cool for the pool today. The air temp is OK but there is a stiff breeze which will make me too cold in the water. I did do the necessary daily maintenance and then some as there was a lot of debris from a rainstorm in the bottom.
I've trimmed and watered all of the plants on the deck. Now watching a dumb movie from the 60s to kill time. We are going out in the Datsun for a spin in a bit.
Pizza and salad for dinner. Hoping that you are all doing OK. Group hug!
I still say my Physical Therapist tried to kill me yesterday!!!!! I am hurting so bad and it was grocery shopping day plus went in walhell. I am down for the count relaxing after a long lavender shower. I have sour kraut, kalbasa sausage and potatoes in the crock pot. I am getting hungry just thinking about it been a long time sinec i made this
I wasn't feeling very productive today so I may have done something dumb and tried to "wrassle" (as Leo says) a stubborn old weed in our yard that has grown to be the size of a small tree. And the darn thing has small hairs all over the branches and leaves so it was itchy as all get out despite wearing gloves. Got em in my hair, down my shirt... managed to saw off at least half of the wiry branches before I just had to stop and jump in the shower. We want to plant a couple of sugar cane in its place.
Anyway, hubby did end up taking me out to dinner... at a nice Japanese place. But then as soon as we ordered desert, awkwardly asked me if I could pay the bill. I turned it down since I paid for one of our last dates out. Our anniversary is coming up next weekend... I think I'll just pack some sandwiches in a picnic basket and we go have a little quiet picnic in a park for an anniversary date. Whatever doesn't cost too much. I also helped mom book a hotel for the weekend so hubby and I will get the house to ourselves for a couple of days.
Will read up on everyone in the Am. Hugs and hope you all have a blessed Sunday.
Blue a picnic sounds like a low key way to celebrate your anniversary. I love picnics. I am glad that you were able to book a room for your mom so you can have some one on one time.
Leo your neighbor scares me lol.
I hope you all have a great day.
BIg Love and PUrrs!:-)
Sounds like you had a good day yesterday, Fantod. With old movies, taking out the Datsun, and pizza and salad :)
Angela, do you think the therapist pushed too hard? Sorry about your thyroid, I hope the meds help really soon. Rest up today. (((hugs)))
Leo, sending peace and quite and lots of sanity! Hope they don't drive you bonkers.
I did sleep better last night. It sure was nice, but it will take awhile to catch up as I had so many sleepless nights in a row.
We went to church this morning, then grabbed a coffee and drove around and looked at homes that we had found online, for sale. Three looked really nice. A few were awful. I'm excited to get looking at homes when our down payment comes in from hubby's employer. Then it's getting the loan approved. I will be so busy after my trip. My hubby now has to go to Georgia after he gets home from Florida. Our house will be empty for almost the whole 2 weeks that I'm gone. Then we leave for Minnesota on the 25th. Not sure how I will take all of this. My body will be shot. I was this busy one other time, and could not move for almost a month with a very bad flare. Hope that doesn't happen.
Have a good Sunday, everyone.
Angela, It took me 2 months before I noticed my thyroid was better, but that's assuming they have you on the right dose. My doc shift me to another med, and I think I'm way too low. I dread life. OMG. Wishing and praying the best for you.
ida, I'm glad you went to church today. We just got back, us girls attend the late service, I was sick of fighting them to get ready, I don't have that kind of energy. I'm praying a lot for you. It's easy to let anxiety and depression take over when we have exerted ourselves past our limit. Hang in there, praise God when you don't feel like it, and you will make it out just fine. Quick story, Addison found a small weather radio in my closet that she now uses in her room to worship God. Imagine a 7 yr old that is so tiny, raising her hands in the air singing songs on k-love, and shouting we must praise God everyday. I'm so proud. :-) I'll be thinking about you a lot.
Blue, I'm glad you got a date night and that you said no to paying. I hate that he does that to you.
Autumn, I'm so glad your partner spent more time with you. I hate cell phones for that reason, I hate seeing parents stuck on them, while their kids never get attention. It makes me so mad. These people stuck on their phones are missing out on the best thing of their life that's right in front of them.
Fantod, It sounds like a lot of work around the house and yard. I hope you enjoyed your Saturday night.
I did some big cleaning out yesterday of clothes, toys, backpacks, 2 hours later I was dying before my nieces birthday party. It really put my mood in a funk, I dread everyday and it's ridiculous that I can't clean or stand on my fight w/o paying for it. Sorry to be downer all the time. I'm just so sick of doctors, exhaustion, and pain, pain, and pain,
I hope everyone is having a good day and managing their pain best you can. Group hug.
