So I noticed something weird, actually the other day, but I had to look at it for a few days to make sure I'm not just seeing things. Nox was jet black when I adopted him in 2018. A few years ago his coat started turning grayish, and around his eyes looks like there's no hair but it's actually very light, almost skin tone. His face, legs and tail have stayed darker than the rest of his body but have had some color change. We don't know why this happened but suspect it's related to his liver inflammation that we found (I did bloodwork etc to see if we could find any reason for the color change, then an ultrasound to assess his liver and GI tract). He's a hoarder cat, so he could be several generations inbred, for all I know.
A few weeks ago, he started scratching himself raw, so we played around with his Pred dose (which he's on for his liver) and antibiotics. I also started him on hypoallergenic food which he's been eating exclusively for 2 weeks, and I lion cut him a little early so I could see any skin lesions more easily. Now his hair is starting to grow in a little and it looks noticeably darker in some places. Is it growing in black? I have no idea. But I wonder if the diet change is behind it. Maybe a food allergy is why he changed color in the first place...we did consider that, but he wouldn't eat the Rx hypoallergenic foods and didn't have any other typical signs so we focused more on the liver. Either way, it's very strange. I basically have a color changing cat.

I've been out to see cats. Finished a job this morning. Have my combative cat until Monday morning. He was pretty good today. Mouthy but manageable. Zyklene helps keep him a bit less ugly.
It's raining today. Our forecast is looking warmer than usual for April.
The fish fry was fun last night. Mom really enjoyed herself. Her caretaker was a little overwhelmed by the size of our group and the whole experience. Mom got a very good report from her PCP and cardiologist. She needs to put on more weight. We are working on that. The facility that she was in was ill equipped to handle a mostly vegetarian diet. That in itself is ridiculous. We brought her food all of the time to compensate for that. She's working hard in PT and I already see a big change in what she can do.
I have to go back out later today and feed that gremlin and his sister dinner. Hoping for a repeat of this morning.
