Good morning and Happy Weekend to those of us for whom weekends end something about the week!
Hubby's bloodwork is perfectly normal --- except for one factor. Which, if it's abnormal, other things should be. So unless he's got one weird-ass medical zebra (see below)? More bloodwork, more waiting to see if it self-resolves. He also had slightly elevated liver enzymes at the ER, which isn't uncommon with gastritis, but by all means, more bloodwork. *sigh* Then? The blood specialists (hematologist). Yes, he could have leukemia. I would prefer to go hardcore and get that ruled out *first* but... nope. And, of course, if you wait around to find out if it's leukemia or such? .... ARGH. So, y'know, yeah, that was fun.
What was *NEW* was having the doc pronounce "normocytic" so weird I had no idea what he said. Not an accent, just how he said it. It sounded like hormal. Where that H come from?! And the L?
Oh, and a new GI med to speed Hubby's healing. Dexilant. Gee, shocking, right? Sorry. Just --- I'm meant to be thrilled this possibly-Hubby's-new-GP guy realized that Pepcid isn't the best option for freaking gastritis?! *headdesk* times ten, all. I've been on every GI med *except* Dexilant, and taht's b/c I have been blessed to get good to excellent results with Nexium use, but geez.
And this also was *NEW*: Hubby's reaction to being told he has to expect it to take up to 6 weeks to totally heal his GI tract.
Let's just say, I knew that reactoin was possible, but last seen in 1991, Homecoming Weekend, college, and he doesn't remember much of that weekend, but it went down in legend for him almost getting banned forever from a particular bar. He'd have been only the 3d person so honored.
"Tantrum" aobut covers it, minus the booze this time.
He's tired of being sick. He doesn't want more doctors. He doesn't want wah wah wah kick kick shout yell red-faced, and there I am just thinking, "Why're you giving this shit to me?"
Now, we know about "ARGH" ranting.
Folks, this was "WAH!" ranting.
His man-parts? The urologist will fix. WILL fix. Not might. WILL.
His GI tract? WILL heal. Not might. WILL.
His bloodwork? OK, that one's weird. And that's the one he ignored.
ZEBRA: a med school term I learned. "When you hear hooves, look for horses, not zebras." Sometimes, however, it's a crazy-freaky horse, or, of course, a zebra... (that is, something exotic/odd). Or a mule. (I think of fibro as a mule. Not a horse, but not a zebra, but damn stubborn.)

"So, other than that, Mr. Booth, the play was lovely," said Mrs. Lincoln.

And on that note, b/c this was cute to me (meerkats, btw, altho' otters in a cuddle are also adorable):

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

Well, our drought isn't broken but our gutter is. Got two big storms rigth after each other and, wait for it, a tornado warning. Now, I was already running for my go-bag when I heard thunder. The air felt wrong. The sky was getting a color to the west. Been there, lived that, time to hide.No funnel touched down but the radar indicated rotation, and boy was it visible from the ground. Different...

Take care.
I love reading about everyone's day. I wish I could take everyone's pain away. It's the caregiver in me I guess.
Fibro is all new to me, though the pain has been with me for 18 months now. I got confirmation this week and one thing I can say is I am still in denial.
I work with families and children with disabilities. What I see most is denial and it always breaks my heart because the child doesn't get the treatment/therapy needed right away.
Yesterday I went shopping for clothes. Dress, undress. Dress, undress. All good until a few hours later when I couldn't even get off the couch by myself. The pain was everywhere and impossible to deny.
Today, I had to do my First Aid & CPR course for work. I had to do 8 minutes straight of compressions. I was in pain but I continued, which I regret now. Why didn't I stop? Because everyone else in the room was 55+ and didn't show sign of slowing down. I didn't want to be the one stopping when I was the youngest in the room (44). Silly isn't it? I'm a very independent woman. Raised 3 kids by myself (one with autism), worked full-time, opened a business and took care of everything around the house. It's frustrating to see I can't do this anymore.
Hopefully one day my pride takes a back seat and I don't push myself as much.
Have a great evening everyone!
Frenchick I understand what you mean about not wanting to stop. I find myself doing way more than I should when we are at family functions. By the time we leave there I have to lay in the seat. I think we all have a hard time accepting that the person in the mirror isn't the person we are in our minds.
Ida I am glad that your hubby is going to help tonight. I hope tomorrow is a quiet day of rest and renewal.
Blue I agree with you on living in a place that is quiet and calm. I wish we could move. We live in a city that is all about doing more, getting more. I want so much to get off this hamster wheel and find a place of peace.
I hope you are all able to enjoy time with family this weekend and pray no chaos comes your way.
Angela, sorry it's frigid.... what about a window? Do any of your windows get sun rays? Maybe you can sit in front of it? I know you said your body isn't absorbing the supplement.... I'm just wondering if nature will help you at all, even a little.
Ida, you carried a child up and down the stairs with your arm pain? Geez louise, talk about physical exercise. I'm glad hubby is coming to help. I hope you are able to rest the rest of the weekend and feel better Monday.
Frenchick, not sill at all. We've become experts at hiding this illness.... because people aren't normally understanding. Plus, I get embarrassed when I'm the only one sitting and resting while everyone else around is up and at it (whatever physical activity). And I hate shopping btw, especially for clothing. Pain levels just don't cooperate and every piece of clothing hurts.
Autumn.... ouch. Sending tranquility and virtual lidocaine patches. Hope your evening is relaxing.
Everyone else, get a good night's rest if you can.
:-)
Kel
Hugs to Kel and the rest of you.
I ended up babysitting alone because hubby didn’t feel well. Baby was already in bed, so I had it easy. Granddaughter and I watched the Olympics.
Church this morning, but I couldn’t handle Bible Study too, so we stopped at the pharmacy and went home. I’m just resting now after finally clearing off my dining room table. It was bugging me.
It is supposed to rain so much on Monday and Tuesday that we already have flood warnings. Melted snow and rain makes for bad conditions. I have nothing going on tomorrow, but I have a checkup at the oral surgeon on Tuesday. Also, this front approaching is causing me a lot of pain. My body is just aching. And my arms. Oy.
Blessings to all.
